    Recommend a codec pack?

I downloaded a video but don't have the right audio codec. I'm not even sure how to find out what codec I need but I guess the easy thing would be to download a good "every codec you'll ever need" pack, so recommendations? I vaguely recall a topic about this before but the search isn't working.

I'll do you one better and recommend a Universal player, VLC.

    That thing plays almost ANYTHING.

Well to find out what codec it is (assuming it's an avi) there is a program called GSpot (yes that's the actual name of the program) which will do that for you. As for codec packs I've heard very mixed reviews of that as a lot of people say those can screw up existing codecs.

So if you're willing to risk that K-lite and Ace Mega have worked for me, though if it's just Divx or Xvid you can probably find those individually. Just only install one codec pack. Oh and most of the time you have to reinstall windows to fix screwed up codecs. So when you install make sure you read the instructions very thoroughly as most codec packs contain conflicting filters, so choosing install all is never a good idea.
