I got this bit of news from RPGamer.com regarding the Tokyo Game Show and some Square Enix announcements. The following is an excerpt from the article:
The first three games are confirmed for the Nintendo DS. I'm not sure about KHII Final Mix though.
Square Enix is certainly on a roll with spinoff games.
With the Tokyo Game Show right around the corner, Square Enix has gotten an early start on the competition by unveiling four new RPGs, including a sequel to the upcoming Final Fantasy XII. The roster also includes a new Mana title, a new spin on Kingdom Hearts, and a new game untied to any existing franchise.
The three games are as follows:
* Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings: This game will be a direct sequel to the upcoming Final Fantasy XII. Revenant Wings will cover the adventures of heroes Vaan and his friend Penelo after the events of the first game have concluded. No other details were revealed, but it's worth noting that Square Enix filed a US trademark for the name "Revenant Wings" recently.
* It's a Wonderful World: Little is known about It's a Wonderful World. The title is confirmed to be an action RPG which utilizes the DS's touch screen for controls. The setting of the game appears to be modern day, and the game has characters designed by Tetsuya Nomura.
* Heroes of Mana: Heroes of Mana is set to be the first strategy RPG set in the universe of the long-running Mana series. The game will be executive produced by Koichi Ishii, the series creator, and will feature a scenario by Masato Kato of Chrono and Xeno fame. Composing the music will be Yoko Shimomura, who has previously worked on the Kingdom Hearts series and Legend of Mana. Like Revenant Wings, Square Enix recently filed a US trademark for "Heroes of Mana."
* Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix: Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix follows in the footsteps of previous international versions of Square Enix games, such as Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix. It appears there will be some additions to the game, though, including a Chain of Memories-style card battle system.
Expect additional details on all of the above games as we approach the Tokyo Game Show.

I expected a negative reaction to the news of a Final Fantasy XII spinoff game. I'm not surprised by it because the sentiment is shared amongst my friends as well, who are also pretty damn sick of it themselves.
