    Some exciting TGS/Square Enix news

I got this bit of news from RPGamer.com regarding the Tokyo Game Show and some Square Enix announcements. The following is an excerpt from the article:

With the Tokyo Game Show right around the corner, Square Enix has gotten an early start on the competition by unveiling four new RPGs, including a sequel to the upcoming Final Fantasy XII. The roster also includes a new Mana title, a new spin on Kingdom Hearts, and a new game untied to any existing franchise.

The three games are as follows:

    * Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings: This game will be a direct sequel to the upcoming Final Fantasy XII. Revenant Wings will cover the adventures of heroes Vaan and his friend Penelo after the events of the first game have concluded. No other details were revealed, but it's worth noting that Square Enix filed a US trademark for the name "Revenant Wings" recently.
    * It's a Wonderful World: Little is known about It's a Wonderful World. The title is confirmed to be an action RPG which utilizes the DS's touch screen for controls. The setting of the game appears to be modern day, and the game has characters designed by Tetsuya Nomura.
    * Heroes of Mana: Heroes of Mana is set to be the first strategy RPG set in the universe of the long-running Mana series. The game will be executive produced by Koichi Ishii, the series creator, and will feature a scenario by Masato Kato of Chrono and Xeno fame. Composing the music will be Yoko Shimomura, who has previously worked on the Kingdom Hearts series and Legend of Mana. Like Revenant Wings, Square Enix recently filed a US trademark for "Heroes of Mana."
    * Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix: Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix follows in the footsteps of previous international versions of Square Enix games, such as Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix. It appears there will be some additions to the game, though, including a Chain of Memories-style card battle system.

Expect additional details on all of the above games as we approach the Tokyo Game Show.
The first three games are confirmed for the Nintendo DS. I'm not sure about KHII Final Mix though.

Square Enix is certainly on a roll with spinoff games.

I hate how they are going in the direction of aftermath stories to tell the rest of the plot, instead of doing that in one game.

It's a Wonderful Life is the first original IP Square's had in a 1000 years and of course Nomura's gonna **** it up.

And Final Fantasy XII isn't even out yet either. It's pretty crazy.

It appears that the Final Fantasy series will be more than the sum of its parts.

Ever since X-2 they've gone spin-off sequel follow up remake crazy. Don't they know a lot of people are already tired of the Final Fantasy series? They're burning it out 10 times as fast now.

I agree. Perhaps this is another effort in making more money if they split one story into three different parts. They even thought about a Final Fantasy VI spinoff. My God in heaven.

I expected a negative reaction to the news of a Final Fantasy XII spinoff game. I'm not surprised by it because the sentiment is shared amongst my friends as well, who are also pretty damn sick of it themselves.

I'll get Final Fantasy XII, of course. The spinoffs? Not so sure.

Yes! 3/4 of the World of Mana has been revealed.

Children of Mana and Heroes of Mana for DS (TWO Mana games on DS?), and Dawn of Mana for PS2. I wonder what the 4th one is?

The online RPG that's been rumored forever is my bet.

An online Mana game... hmm, I don't know how that would work. I love the Mana games, but an online RPG of it just doesn't sound that appealing.

No online RPG sounds appealing to me.

A SaGa online rpg would do just fine for me.
