complete newbie, please help

Thank you to anyone who can assist me. I just got RPG maker 3 yesterday. i have never played any of the other RPG makers. I have a few questions if anyone can help me. Thanks will definately be in order!

First, I want a treant as a main character; can he use weapons?

Second, I did not know there was a keyboard for the game. Can someone tell me how where to buy it, how to use it, and the cost for this?

Thanks for any help. I'm going home tonight to mess around with the game and see what I can figure out.

1. You can with the "any weapon usable with any class" trick, I think. It's sticked.

2. It's like 10-20 bucks. You can also use any keyboard with a USB plug. Just plug it in your USB port on the PS2 and you can type away! I got mine from Amazon, I don't know any sellers of it off the top of my head...Best But should have them, though.

I used a treant as a playable character in a game that I never finished. I think he just hits things with his "hands" for damage if I remember correctly.

Also, I bought a decent USB keyboard from Comp USA for like 12 bucks specifically for RPG Maker 3. Any USB keyboard will work.

Check out the stickied thread by Hitogoroshi. It provides lots of good basics for new owners of RPG Maker 3.

Using the treant as your main player, you should be able to equip weapons using the equip any weapon trick. (see the stickied thread in this forum). - Well, I can get the Treant to use the Great Axe, Dagger, or Naginata. They all look pretty good.

As far as the keyboard goes, any USB keyboard will work fine. It doesn't have to be anything fancy. Mine is a Microsoft keyboard. Works great.

Yeah, mess around with it a bit. You'll like it.

It's looking like theres some crazy restriction on animals. Read up the trick and try yourself, I guess. <--- Has never used the weapon trick.

The restriction comes from the fact that you can only assign classes of the character's gender. Animal classes get less weapons, so the weapon trick only lets you use those weapons. It's like how women can't use tonfas and men can't use knives or naginatas.
