I was looking at my game rack and noticed quite a few games that are so horrible I thought I would post about them, so thus! the Horrible Game Rant Topic! The idea is you take a horrible game and say what you hate about it and post it.
Anyways I think one game that deserves a dishonorable mention is the 2001 PS2 game Wave Rally. I don't know how I obtained this most horrible distasteful, boring, bland, pointless, and frustrating game, but it ended up in my possesion somehow.
The whole game is about the sport of jet skiing! The first time I picked it up and started playing I entered a race (that's all you can do in it, race), and when the 3, 2, 1.. GO sequence ended I sat helplessly at the starting line angrily mashing buttons in an attempt to move forward. All the damn guy would do was "hop" forward a bit, and occasionally fall off, even though he was going a whooping 0 MPH.
Eventually I figured out how to move, and continued the race, although now I was a good 20 or 30 miles behind the participants. For about one day I played this game, the tricks were lame and incredibly hard to execute, and no matter how hard pushed that damned X button I wouldn't go any faster then and golf cart. Soon after I ejected the game and since then it had sat alone on my game rack.
Another game that I can't forget it Spider-Man 2 for the Game Cube. If any of you have read Nintendo Power, you'd know that the magazine is incredibly biast. Their review was no different. Claiming the game had a free style of play and tons of action car chasing to be done, I went to EB games and picked it up for 9 bucs, surprising cheap for a new game I thought, boy was I wrong.
Upon opening it and putting it into my gamecube, I started off on top of a tall building and proceeded to jump off, perhaps this was my fault, because I hadn't checked to see what button sprayed Spidey's web. I continued to fall to the ground and eventually met the concrete. I died instantly. Bystanders took the oppertunity to yell at me and make fun of me. It was humiliating.
The rest of the game wasn't much better. The "exciting" car chase scenes, were indeed difficult, mainly because the car moved so slow it was hard not to run past it. Every "job" the citizens give you in the game is lame and boring. They range forr "save my baloon!" to "He took my purse!" to the infamous (and often overly repeated) "Help I'm being attacked by thugs.
A few months later The same company that made Spider Man 2 came out with a new Spider Man, this one called Spider Man Legends or somthing. I heard it was good, but I'm not taking my chances.
