    Five Years Ago Today.

Do you remember what you were doing when you heard the news? Me, I was out in the warehouse taking some pics of dog collars to image. Then, when I came back into the office, one of my coworkers told me to hop on the Net, because something big had happened. I tried to get on the Net but it did not work. Then he told me that a plane had crashed into one of the WTC buildings, and at first I thought it was an accident. Then we heard on the radio that the other tower had been crashed into, and it did not sound like an accident any longer. Then we all conjegated in the conference room and watched the events unfold on Fox News. It was extremely surreal at the time, as if it could not really be happening.

During the afternoon I remember chatting with Pavilionites. I saved the chat, but I cannot remember where I saved it at.

I was playing some game, and then the local CBS news announced that someone had accidentally crashed his plane into the tower.

I hadn't woken up yet and I was about to head to my characterization class at the Art Institute. Then my mom told me someone crashed into the Trade Center. I debated whether or not to go to class, and I ended up not going. For obvious reasons, I wasn't the only one who didn't go that day.

I was getting ready for school, my careers teacher just turned it on and watched it the whole class. Regretably I fell asleep during that class.

Then, later that day, someone told me they were happy it had happened, assuming I'd be all "**** AMERICA, M I RITE?" because I had spiked hair and patched clothing. That was the only time I got into a fight during 8th grade.

This may sound horrible, but did anyone get sick of the 24/7 coverage on every channel after about 2 weeks?

"At first it just looked like a picture of a bunch of lily pads, but then I started scraping at it with my pocket knife and the whole painting just sort of spoke to me," Schmidt said. "For the first time, I finally understand what Monet was trying to get across in her work."

I was on campus for an art history class, everybody was talking about it. I'd just moved to my new place, so I didn't have my cable set up. I went to wal-mart after class so I could pick up a set of rabbit ears in order to get local news. I had heard about what happened, but until I saw it on like 50 TVs at once I didn't realize how big it was.

I still went to the rest of my classes that day, but our evening art studio class couldn't concentrate so we left early. I only had FOX news until our cable was set up, and I'll never forget them showing footage of people jumping. Also, one of their reporters was talking to someone who was looking for a victim. The person was still holding out hope and speaking as though the person was still alive. The reporter asked what they would do if only pieces of their loved one were found. I turned off the TV. I didn't turn it back on until we got cable and had other news channels.

On pacific time, so I'd just gotten up around 10-ish...my Dad was watching the news and one of the towers had already been hit, I don't think the second one had been.

I had class later in the day. I did attend, there were only a handful of other students, and we belatedly got the message the class was cancelled later...prof. couldn't be bothered to send out an e-mail apparently.

None of the reporters made any sort of impression on me...mostly what sticks out in my mind is the footage of the towers coming down and people running from the debris. I won't be going to see the movie.

I was going up some stairs into a building and a guy in front of me turned to another guy and said "some plane just crashed into the Trade Center." For some reason I thought he meant Wal-Mart, but after about 5 seconds I realized that's the Supercenter. After we got in I saw it on a TV and realized what he meant.

My only other memory of that is my brother coming over to eat dinner late that night. He got a plate out and was getting dinner while CNN was on TV. He sat down, looked at the TV and said "What happened there?"

              *shakes head*
              Keep the change.

I was hearing a lot of whispering in the halls, and then when I walked into health class it was on the TV. it looked like a movie.

I remember coming home and seeing the topic angeldragon or whatever her name was made here.

I was in my 8th grade living skills class, when a teacher ran in and told us that a plane had hit one of the WTC Towers. This was around 8am (9am Est). Moments later she runs in again and tells us that another plane had hit. I then went to my next class, an office attendence, where I saw a glimpse on the teacher's lounge tv. Throughout the rest of the day, our classes were basically 'cancled' as teachers turned on their TVs to watch coverage of the news.

Then around lunch the school's principle came on the PA system and addressed the student body.

I was then interviewed a few days later for the local NBC affiliate for student reactions.

I also remember coming to the pav and seeing the topic on it, specifically the part relating to the well being of Mattman.

                    Re: Five Years Ago Today.

I was in French class, another teacher came in and interrupted ours, we were told to study or something.

When I heard the news it didn't hit me as a big deal until I heard that an actual plane actually hit the tower. I wanted to see footage, because I knew it would look 10x better than something out of the movies.

                    I'm horrible.

I was in lunch period during 9th grade. I figured after it happened that there was no way that we couldn't get the people responsible...

Someone came into our Algebra II class and told us about it. Then we went to our American History teacher’s room to watch it live.

                          Re: Five Years Ago Today.

Around 4pm my time, was working on the comp, making some music when my dad called from work: "OMG turn on the news, some jet just crashed into the WTC!"
Me: Well that's not really nice..
Dad: Go watch it on CNN!

So I watched it on TV and saw both towers smoking, so I quickly popped in a VHS and recorded everything for the rest of the day. Still got the cassette.

                          First reactions:
We at war with China?! The Russians?! Who did we **** off now and what for?!

So the rest of the day we were watching TV, while I was just waiting to hear who the heck was responsible for it all and for what reasons.

Everything seemed so unreal and 'impossible' I really didn't think much of it at first.. It was like watching a Michael Bay movie or something. ("Armageddon" did show the WTC hit by comets and they look very similar to 911.)

Next day at school, the students: AWESOME FOOTAGE!! Best Explosions ever! YAY FOR DOMINO DAY!!

Me and my sister were skipping school. So I was playing zelda in my room while she was watching TV out in the living room. Here it was "Robbie! Come out here!", sadly, I pretended to care more about watching it then heading back to my room right away and continuing to play games. Damn I was one addicted kid.

7th Grade, forget what class. At first we all thought it was an accident, then the second one struck. Went home, and played Diablo II the rest of the night.

I don't think I could really comprehend what was going on at the time.
