    debating buying Dance Factory

Yeah, I know the song generation is supposed to suck. That's not what I want though. It has a mode where you can create your own routine for others to play. I want to burn my own mix (which I've already confirmed you can do) and make my own routines for songs. I'm just debating whether or not I wanna pay $40 to do that.

I have to admit, it'd be pretty swanky to set that up at PavilionCon and have people try out the routines I made for a bunch of songs I picked.

Dance Factory was a good reminder to me as to why I should never buy games when they launch. But it was my week off, and my wife really likes the dancing games. I thought it would be cool since I can't stand the type of music that comes with the DDR games. Boy was I wrong. Now I understand you wanna do the create ur own steps mode, but I have to first say that the random generated steps suck ass. ...complete ass. It's not even laughable.
But regarding what you want to use it for. You can only create your own steps by dancing to the song while it's playing --there is no edit mode.
The entire game is just so threadbare. Albeit they had to make it small enough to load onto the PS2 so you can flip in and out music cds, but damn it looks like pre-PS1. The backgrounds are few and mundane. The step-arrows often change the same color as the background. Oh yeah, and the up and down are reversed from the positions they are in EVERY OTHER DANCE GAME EVER. If you still want the game, I already posted my copy up on half.com, but I'll gladly sell it to you for $30. We only used it one night so everything is in like new condition.

If you wait 6 months you could get it on clearance for $5-$10, but any interest in the game will have subsided by then. Buy Okami.

Yeah I got a copy. Great idea, horrible execution. Still fun but you have to create your own steps, the default ones suck 90% of the time. But you can't do holds in creating your own steps nor can you edit specific parts or set the beat of the song or anything. It's still kinda cool though. Up to you...

how easy is it to create your own dance steps? can you do it while you have music playing, or do you have to do it without the music going?

I love the concept, it just sounds like it isnt well executed.

I'm glad i didnt pick this up the day i heard about it.
