    Maybe a bit morbid?

Okay, I'm heading into the next page of my comic, and I am having some serious trouble with drawing it. Currently you are following a character through a dream and she wakes up face to face with a dead body. (fun, huh?) This is where I am having some MAJOR problems. The body calls to be 1) dead and 2)male, two things in which I am NOT proficiant at all.

I am currently needing some sort of reference picture to be able to do this. Mostly a front-view shot of a semi-dead or close to dead male. It doesn't have to be a photo (actually, I would prefer it wasn't) but something that might be able to help me get an idea of what to draw. You don't have to post it in this thread (and if this is too mature for the free forum, please move it to the pavilion) but please PM me. THanks you guys!

How about just doing a male torso and darken the outline of the eyes, and possibly make the mouth gaping.

What killed the guy? Did he die of natural causes or was he murdered? Is this a colored picture? The reason I ask is that certain poisons cause skin color to change.

You might consider running a search for sketches of dead people. Sometimes, old murder mysteries (books) had pictures but that would take too long. Other than that I can't help. Sorry. Good luck with it. Sounds interesting.

from my experience dead bodies look alot like live bodies, but they have horrible facial expressions.

It depends on how they died. The reader will get a better impression the man is dead if the corpse isn't looking straight at her. Depending on the method of death, you might be able to have a small stream of blood flowing from his mouth, that would at least suggest he's seriously injured.

A sword throught the temple, killed in self defense. and Yes. Pretty much the battle is layed out, with four "Hunters" and two characters, Poe and Mirage. Mirage is pitted against two, as is Poe. Mirage wields a sword/ax sort of weapon (hard to discribe) and is fighting M1 and M2 (her hunters respectively.) She knocks M1 back and faces against M2. She knocks M2 down and slides her sword though his temple and into the ground. From behind her, M1 smacks her upside the head with the flat of the blade, and she gets knocked out for a few seconds (in which a dream sequence occurs)

Very true. The way the page is set up is the following.
Panel 1 - A hazy outline, blurred to the point beyond recognition.
Panel 2- The panel comes in focas a bit, to reveal a face.
Panel 3 - Snapping into focas, it's a dead face, eyes empty, staring at her. He is on his back, his head facing her, her sword shoved into his temple, pinning his dead head to the ground.
Panel 4- The view shifts to a bright burst of sunlight. Text - "Master! Look out!"
Panel 5 - The burst of light is blocked by a shadow, and a swinging sword.

That's kinda it. I could shift it around, but pretty much she is waking from a "dream" (she pretty much got knocked out in a fight) and what she wakes up to startles her.

i'd say the corpse should then be grotesque to get across the surprise effect to the reader.. maybe look at some illustrations from zombie survival games, but make it look a little fresher. It might give you some inspiration for gore.
