I just got RPGM3 (with keyboard) and I've messed with the software enough to be ready to start my adventure. I got a good story/characters/events/... but I am really interested in some advice as to game-length. What I mean is what length feels right on this software. My game will be more story-heavy than battle-heavy (that's just the side I lean towards). Anyways, I'm gonna tell you guys what I have in mind, and I would really appreciate some feedback (especially from those with experience of a few, well-made games on RPGM3) as to what feels right. I hate playing games that either drag-on (with endless battles and little story) or end quickly/abruptly (too few battles, not enough story) or drag on with story and no battles or .... I'm sure all of you are well aware of all the different faults rpgs can have. Anyways, here's what I have in mind:
5-7 towns say 10 npcs a town all pushing the story forward in different ways. Each town takes up roughly 15-30 minutes. (2-3 hrs).
4-6 dungeons with boss and regular battles throughout (though as I said not too battle heavy [gonna place them as events instead of having the software randomly generate]) probably up to an hour max each (4-6 hrs).
My game will comprise of 3 fields, events throughout, cutscenes and the like (add another 2-3 hrs).
So I am thinking somewhere around 10 hours. Does that sound all right for a game on this software? Do my numbers look ok to those who have a lot of experience with RPGM3? Any and all feedback (especially from those with experience) will be appreciated.
