    HUMAN! (sprites)

I'm currently attempting to make humanoid sprites. Any suggestions or tips are welcome. Keep in mind I'm still just learning.

Yeah, I kind of have difficulty with making woman. I'll try my best to make her look like a lady.

After you get the body type right, I would suggest darkening the chin-line so that you can see the face better.

Just remember that a typical man's center of gravity is in his chest and a woman's

But what do I know about realism?
        *snerks* I won't say a word.

The best thing I can say is to make her have more of an hourglass shape when you create her first off, rather then the triangle shape you have her in. It would also help alot if you checked out a few female sprite sheets on the internet as well. Or just look at Gloomy's girls and try to make sprites out of them.

Trust me, everyone will know they are female..

(You know I mean all the love in the world for you Glooms)

Thanks very much for the advice. I'll be starting over again to make sure I get her just right this time round. I wasn't too satisfied with her, but I couldn't put my finger on what the problem was. Its always good to get outside opinions. Once again, thanks.

I haven't had much time to work on sprites lately. So before I start getting into making details, I want to have the female body type right. So am I getting close?

Maybe when you add the hair and stuff. But right now I am thinking it looks like captain picard. Better than I can do though. I can't really give any advice on how to make it better for that reason.

I agree, but better then the first one none-the-less, keep up the effort, and I'm sure you'll have a well crafted human sprite soon.

I guess its about time I post something. After many different attempts I think I finally have a decent female.

Any advice? Is there anything I need to do to improve her or is it good enough?

ALOT better, but try and pull her shoulders in, and make her breasts a slight bit bigger. Not much, maybe a pixel or two. In proportion, women don't have huge shoulders, and it would look better if you made the neck a bit smaller too.

Edit - I hope you don't mind, but I did a rough version in Photoshop with the neck to give you an idea. :P

                    See the diffrence?

Libby, you're a life saver. Those two areas have been bothering me. I couldn't figure out how to go about fixing them. Now that I know, I may finally be able to finish this.

Looks nice! I can't wait to see what it looks like when it's finished. You're quite the talented artist.
Despite what you think, I am very, very real.

She has a massive butt if I may say so myself.
Agreed, it needs to be attached to the leg.

You need to have moving parts, like upper arms and forearms, lower an upper parts to the legs. Peoples arms and legs arn't straight lines, you got to add some curves. Bring in the arms and move the legs closer together, it's going to look weird the way you drew them(you made them V shaped) but if take forearms and such into consideration it'll work.

I'm just concentrating on the arms and legs because you're going to have a hard time animating it the way it is, the moving parts are going to look detached and uh... Not fluid.

I'm now working on the side view. I mainly did some re-arranging of body parts so the shading and stuff may be off. Before I get into fixing them I want to make sure I get the proportions right. Something about it seems off, but I can't put my finger on it. Suggestions?

The arms go too far back, bring them more to the front of the body. That is all I can see.
