OK so it's out now. Anyone actually going to pick up this game? HAs anyone actually gotten through the other two yet? And will Shion finally confess her love to KOS-MOS? Details people.
Beaten 1 and 2. Near the end on this one, been playing it almost non stop since I got it. I have recently beaten both secret bosses, gotten almost everyones ultimate weapons. Now I am on my way to the end of the game.
So far its a really great game, they got rid of the zone system, plus the battle system is just more fun and faster than ever. Most battles I get through under a minute. Which is a nice change for the series. On Xenosaga I I'd sometimes spend around 10 minutes on some regular battles. Another thing it gets right is the soundtrack, if anyone remembers number one most of the time had no music at all. And Xenosaga II tried to fix that by adding music to gameplay segments, but it was usually just crappy techno. But the soundtrack in this one is quite good, and there is plenty of music too, so you won't get tired of any of the tracks. Plus keep an eye open to some homages to Xenogears, such as Leupold, and Omega ID.
I didn't get II either, so I probably won't get III.
I honestly didn't like the character redesigns. And all the bad things said about II, why would I bother to play it, just so I know what is going on in III?
Well that's why you wait to find it for $10 on sale at Blockbuster, like I did with Xenosaga II. Which I still haven't started. I thought 1 was pretty good, though the story was fairly unimaginative, and drug on for way too long at times, I'm a big fan of the way they set up the battle system, though the AWGS were useless. Never once brought one out, and normally had no trouble winning, even with wasting turns on transforming and stealing. Mainly because the Power accessory (the one where you deal more damage inversely proportional to HP) and having the Safety Level (like auto-life, but you only have 1HP) effect on Jr meant instant win against anything. So though the battle system was not without some blunders, it had a good premise.
So hopefully Xenosaga II won't turn me off of III. But either way I'm waiting till it at least gets to $30, just like I did with all the .hacks.
Xenosaga took all the faith I had in it and spit it back at me with Episode II. Why on earth would I buy III?
Because its shiny! Oh wait, that would be the reason I would get it... maybe not. With as ****ty and as short as Episode II was, I wouldn't be buying this game. If I get it as a birthday gift then I might play it, but I'm not going to buy it.
I had to change accounts. I'm here now - http://www.pavilionboards.com/forum/member.php?u=1475
Actually, Xenosaga III is 39.95, unlike 2 was. I think all ps2 games should start out at 40$ now.
I went to Wal-mart and got it for $39.94, so I saved myself a penny! So far I like it, it's a nice little movie. I'm a little over 7 hours into it and I think I've gone through 2 dungeons. Pretty much the rest of it is a movie.
And I don't mind it being like an interactive movie, it's like a nice change of pace from having to go through RPGs where most of it is selecting 'Attack' to fight the enemies.
Purple is not just another color, it is a way of life.
