How Does Rpg Maker 3 compare with 2?

I'm thinking about buying RPG Maker 3 but worried it will be too simplistic to allow me enough free reign to keep me content, as i've hard RPG Maker 2 is the most powerful. So i'm hoping people who own the game can answer a few questions for me:

Does RPG Maker 3 allow you to design the AI of fellow party members and monsters?

Can you get rid of the default battle music and just let the normal background music of a dungeon keep playing uninterrupted when you encounter a monster?

Is there a skill system similiar to 1 and 2 to where you can equip different jobs that determine how your stats grow as you level up? And can you use these skills to determine which weapons/armor and magic spells your character is able to learn?

If the answer is yes to all these questions think i'll probably buy 3 and retire RPG Maker 2, even though i have so much of my life invested in trying to figure out how to write traits on that game it's going to suck giving up on it.

pretty much no. RPG Maker 3 is pretty much just for beginners, people without a lot of time to make a game, or people scared off by RPG Maker 2's complexity.

I'll probably stick with RPG Maker 2 then. I was hoping 3 was like an easier to understand RPG Maker 2, having all the same depth and freedom - but just better explained and easier to understand. The trait scripts on RPG Maker 2 give me migranes their so insanely difficult to comprehend, not to mention some of the in-game descriptions are still in japaneese :/

RPG Maker 3 isn't THAT bad, It is just ...different. It featured a "story maker" where you can have a conversation between characters with pictures of them pop up on the screen and change the music, or even make a beautiful intro stor screen. Also, the battles are in 3rd person instead of RPG Maker 2's 1st person. There are also other displays, such as the time of day, direction compass, and the name of the town or world. The world map is also easier to make, you can just draw the map with different colors making different landforms.

RPG Maker 3, however, does not offer as much freedom, but you can still do some cool things. You can still use scripting, but it is MUCH easier.

Overall, RPG Maker is easier, faster, but has a somewhat limited freedom. I would reccomend getting it just to see if you like it. You can make some awsome medieval adventures with it...
I hope I explained it well enough. If not, just ask me anything else about it.

3 works best if you're a noob because it is easy to use, but gives you fewer options. 2 makes almost anything possible, but it's much more complicated and difficult to use.
