    New to RPG Maker Series

I just picked up both the 2nd and 3rd installments in the series and have already started getting my hands dirty. I've always wanted a way to tell stories through a video game since I was a little kid and now I finally have a tool that will let me do just that! I got the lot of them for only $40; one of them being brand new even. I've only just started getting into RPG Maker 3 and have an assortment of different classes and monsters created, as well as an introduction story teller sequence. I was using my gamepad to input everything for the character classes and monsters, which was a real headache while trying to figure out how to properly balance all the characters and skills at the same time. I finally got a USB keyboard and everything is running much more smoothly now. I put together a rich beginning story to set up my rpg in a couple hours, which would have taken me probably closer to half a week with just the controller. I'm really excited to be able to make my own RPG and share it online with what appears to be an open friendly community. I'll be spending some time going through the FAQ thread of this forum so I don't repeat anything anyone else has asked already and look forward to sharing my creations with all of you and enjoying yours as well

Also, go to the RPG Maker 3 workshop, and look at my sticked thread "answers to basic questions."

If that doesn't answer it, start a thread and me and Page will help you out (there are others, too, but us two hang out here the most.)

          Hey Twisted Mr Brown,

$40.00 for 2 and 3. That's a good deal! That's cool that you bought both of them. If you're someone who likes to have a variety of ideas going at the same time, you could make one game on each.

We're all happy to help if we can. I appreciate the good word Hito and Auron.
Definitely check out Hitogoroshi's common questions thread (that's jam-packed with different people's common answers needed) [and the cool thing about it is that it's a collaborative effort of many people].

For inspiration, you may want to try some of the full games that have been created on here to give you some inspiration. If you do, I'd recommend Vonwert's "Whispers in the Woods" and Perversion's "Series 1: Destiny Beckons"

I'm definitely with Libra In Red when she says that you should post some of your ideas on here. The more people contributing to the community, the better for all of us. Just because your new doesn't mean your ideas do not have value. I remember when Zero Down first posted here a while ago as a newbie. His posts made me learn a whole lot about using switches in RPG Maker 3. Jump on in, the water's great, murky at times, but great, nonetheless.

          Well, take care. Sleep well.
