    Regarding PSU...

Does anyone know if you do not happen to be online with your PS2 (I don't have a 360 yet), if you can still play the online portion offline like in PSO? If you can, I might be interested in picking this up. But to just play the offline single player RPG just is not going to cut it. I'm hoping for some offline split-screen action. Does anyone know if this is going to happen? Also, what's up with the single-player mission's main character's name? Ethan Waber??? What kind of a stupid last name is that?

They're doing it a bit differently this time.

Offline, you've playing a brand new single player Phantasy Star game. Forget if you go to every planet. Though, after the story, it becomes more like online, but now by much.

It's set to come out sometime this fall (at least, that's what Game Informer says.)

Ummm...that really did not answer my question. I'm wondering if you can play the online dungeons/quests/etc OFFLINE like you could in PSO.

          From PSO-World
2.3: Can I create my own character to play as in offline mode?
A: Not entirely. In the regular offline mode, you play as Ethan Waber, a pre-created male human character, conjured up by Sega. It has recently been revealed however, that you will be given the ability to customise Ethan's outfit somewhat, which will then be reflected in all ingame events and cut-scenes.

In the new 'extra mode', you will be able to create your own offline hero, and traverse the Gurhal system offline, in areas cleared as [your] Ethan. However, in this 'extra mode' you do not follow the same story as you would with Ethan Waber. Instead, you embark on an 'endless' game, where all you essentially do is raise your character. Much like the online counterpart.

2.4: Is there a multiplayer offline mode?
A: No. The only offline mode that exists, is the single-player story mode. PSU also appears to have no LAN support.

I'll probably get the PC version if it supports Joysticks, if not, I'll still get it.

The 360 servers are seperate. The developers suggested they were still trying to work out a fix but it didn't sound likely. I don't know if it's because of the voice chat or how XBL is set up or what.

                    Re: Regarding PSU...

Well I have the game (import, of course) installed and everything. However, the game of "hurry up and wait" continues. Sega's characteristic ineptitude shines yet again. You make a game like this with such a fanbase, and your registration server can't even stand up to it. I am a very angry and bitter man.

Hopefully the NA version won't be plagued with the same issues as the JP version at launch. Basically their servers could only accomodate 20000 people, and there are over 100000 players now. Essentially, the servers can't cope with this load. On top of that, there have been people having issues their character data upon using the myroom feature. It's just been a complete mess. As of now, the servers are down for an indefinite maintenance.

Screw voice chat if the PS2 and PC are text only, just make the 360 version work on the same server.

I dont care if i have voice chat or not, i have a keyboard that will work for the 360. I just want to be able to get the 360 version, and still be able to play with PS2 and PC players.

But if that doesnt happen, i guess i'm only gonna be playing PSU on the PS2.
