IT'S GAME OVER, MAN! (For my disc...)

My RPGM2 Disc is...is...is...WORN OUT! All I hear in the PS2 is funny noises!
What am I going to do now? Find another RPG Maker?
I'M LOSING IT! I'M LOSING IT!

Is it the disk, or is your PS2 just having trouble reading the blue-backed disks?Have you tried turning your PS2 on its side, you know so it stands vertically? This is the only way I can get my RPG Maker 2 disk to play. Even then, the little motor inside the PS2 kind of grinds away as it reads it.

Supposedly there is a way to clean the eye that reads the laser light in your PS2 also, but when I tried the instructions to PS2 dre fix nothing happened.
A few people have even suggested putting scotch tape in certain places on the disk to get it to work. That did nothing for me either.

Good luck. Worst case scenario, you can buy another used RPG Maker 2 game if you can find one. (if your problem really is the disk and not your older PS2).

Thanks to KennyKen and Rodak for suggestions that they gave me when I was having the same problem as you are.

Yeah, I actually have boughten 3 copies of RPG Maker 2. My first copy got stolen about a year ago. My sister brought some d-bag over when I was gone. Before I knew it, all the games lying on my ps2 are missing from there cases. I was freaking the fudge out. No biggie though, I just made her buy me a used copy, within a week I also bought a back up copy. Probably since I was just paranoid of losing it again.

Y'know, it could also just be your PS2. I remember when mine broke, we tried everything. We replaced the lens, and everything, but eventually had to completely replace it.

Oh, that stinks, Drazus. How well does the small PS2 read the Max Drive disk?
          With no problem?

I'd assume the PStwo has no problems. But the model before it doesn't have problems, either. Aside from it making clicking noises when I'm in the Gold Saucer (and only the Gold Saucer).

But yeah, once you get those DREs, you're skrewed over. You either need to get it fixed for a month and hope that Sony does it for free (I got lucky myself), or go grab a new PS2 (which I did after my older PS2 DREaded for the second time).

First, check for scratches. If there are no scratches, go to the options menu of the PS2 (with no disk in) and change the options. If that doesn't work, you could get a brand new game from ebay, I just ordered mine.

Rub it on your shirt. Vigorously. It always works for me.

Yes, and make sure it's a heavy camel-hair shirt.

Seriously, though, any luck with any of these suggestions, Saint Zomb-e?

I haven't tried my slim with the max drive, yet this max drive was made about a month ago, so it should work.

And try cleaning off the disk with a damp cloth. AND DO NOT GO IN CIRCLES. Surprisingly, that actually scratches it more. Just wipe from the center and out.

This same thing happened to me around 2 weeks ago. It was off and on for a long while and i could usualy turn my ps2 upside down and crap to make it read - but soon it got to where it couldn't read the game at all no matter what i did. Finally i got sick of it and called Sony and asked them to fix it, which is where my PS2 is right now in fact. It cost me 45 bucks and they send you an email you have to send in with your ps2 when you ship it. One bad thing is they take forever to refurbish it, as it's been over 2 weeks now and i still haven't got it back. But if it's to the point it won't read at all it's probably your best option.

I had to wait a little over a month before I got my PS2 back. And I got it repaired for free, which I'll never understand how since it seems like everyone else has to pay.

It has something to do with a number on the back of your PS2. When i called them they said they would replace mine for free too if i had one of two different serial numbers - which of course i didn't have.

I think I got my PS2 during year two of its life. I know I got it with Gran Turismo 3 (as part of a pack-in deal, even). So that would explain why I got it fixed for free.
