    Ender's Game: The Movie

    http://www.comingsoon.net/news/topnews.php?id=8875
David Benioff, the writer of the screenplay for Wolfgang Petersen's 2004 epic Troy, has been signed by Warner Bros. to pen the script for the movie Ender's Game.

Benioff will work with his writing partner, Dan Weiss, in close cooperation with Petersen, who is developing Ender's Game with the intent of directing it himself.

The screenplay will be based on Orson Scott Card's novels "Ender's Game" and "Ender's Shadow".

Says Card, "Mr. Benioff proved with 'Troy' that he could adapt a long work to fit the brevity of film, while preserving what is most powerful and effective in the original."

Any film of 'Ender's Game' will be heavily dependent on special effects, says Card, "but it's the characters that the audience must care about for the film to succeed."

"I have every expectation that he and Mr. Weiss will be able to create a screenplay that will distill the strong characters and moral dilemmas of the novel into an exciting film that will justify the huge expense involved in filming it," said Card.

Benioff also adapted his own novel, 25th Hour, into a screenplay for the Spike Lee-directed 2002 film that starred Edward Norton.

Looks like Orson Scott Card's screenplay didn't cut the mustard.

I LOVE Ender's Game...I'm scared about who's responsible for bringing it to the big screen. The guy did Das Boot, but he also did Troy.

which thanks to two crappy sequels did end after all.
The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

No, there was the animated series and the live-action series, too.

                  *ahem*

                  OHMIGAWD!!!

That's one of my favourite books. EVER. It's amazing, if you haven't read it I suggest you do so. I'm not a big fan of space sci fi, but I love Ender's Game.

I just hope they don't butcher it.

Considering the book contains copious underage nudity... bet your life that they'll butcher it.

I'm starting to think that all book adaptations should be animated, unless they're boring books.

                        Re: Ender's Game: The Movie

Yeah, lots of books would make good animated features. The Harry Potter book to movie adaptations were not so bad until the third movie, that one leaves out so much plot detail it isn't funny.

I've always wanted my favourite book of all time (Tailchaser's Song, written by Tad Williams) to become a movie, and it would HAVE to be animated for it to work. The heroes are all cats.

Ender's Game would be cool either live action or animated, methinks.

I hope my book gets made into an anime.
