    Phantasy Star II

Holy crap is this game cheap. I spent an hour trudging through this fugly dungeon only to have some blobs hit all my party members three times in a row and automatically kill them.

    ****.

Did I mention the dungeons are hideous?

Oh, and how about randomly going home to find new party members waiting for you? Retarded.

    YEAH.

I think I am in the first dungeon, with 3 characters, and always die.

I think it's the first dungeon.

    I hope.

The only really good classic Phantasy Star is the fourth one.

The first one is super old school. Second one is broken, hard, and just... I dunno. It hasn't aged well. And the third one had a funky battle system and I remember it taking way to long just to walk through dungeons.

          But the fourth one... golden!

Phantasy Star II is a classic, but it also has the most unforgiving dungeons ever. I had to diagram the first dungeon. THE FIRST DUNGEON. They're long, they're hard, and there are no rest points/save points. They also can take upwards of 2 hours to complete.

The teleport dungeon is the worst. I think I had to leave and come back about 7 times for that one alone.

You have to grind levels in that game. PS2 is a lot closer to DQ1 than it is to FF1 in that respect. 90% of the game is about grinding those levels.

I made it to Dezoris(Dezo) in that game, but then I have no clue where to go. The Dezorians just keep saying stupid crap to me like "Dezo men are the best men!"

I do like the Dezo overworld music.

As for my thoughts on the game, the series really didn't get "good" until PSIV came out. I still liked PSIII, though. Favorite character in PSIII: Nial.

I got Phantasy Star I & II on the GBA way back.

I had to sell it. I didn't hate it, it was just... so old. I couldn't DO it.

The remaining 10% would be the cracked out ending, right?
Oh my god! You are so beautiful.
I had no idea how beautiful you were.

I've only played Phantasy Star IV, and I don't intend to try out the earlier games because of stuff I've heard. Unless they were remade (not ported) with gameplay improvements (as well as an "original difficulty" for those who may want it; don't want another FFI&II Advance fiasco).

Does someone have a map of the first dungeon, so I can see if I am even in the right place?

Check out this website I found.

They have sweet maps for every place.
