I've been looking for years for albums composed by the Geinoh Yamashirogumi. For those of you who don't know, they composed the original soundtrack for Akira, which is an interesting combination of gamelan music, japanese psych, buddhist chant, traditional noh, and synth ambient.
Well, they've made plenty of other albums - but they're very hard to find around these parts. I've even talked with native japanese overseas traders who said they're so hard to find they'd have a problem getting them for me. Soulseek wishlists didn't help either.
Well, as things would happen (and this is pretty odd), right as I was complaining about never being able to find any of their music to a friend of mine, my wishlist in soulseek finally returns some hits for them. It's one big 40-track or so assorted geinoh yamashirogumi folder, but i'm downloading it. I'm in the process of trying to find some tracklists for their albums online so I can play match the track with the album. Regardless, there's at least enough material here for two full albums and a couple incomplete ones, I'd imagine. We'll see.
I'll probably post a couple tracks to my fledgling mp3 blog which i'm just getting off the ground (http://hidden-streams.blogspot.com/), and keep the rest in soulseek, where you all may have at them. And I do reccomend you have at them. This is really awesome stuff. Any akira fans here will appreciate it.
