Sale) Wireless-G Linksys Broadband Router x2

    Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54G

My dad works for Sprint, and apparantly he can get them for free. He got three, one for me and two of his friends. However, his friends weren't interested in them.

So I've got two of these things, still shrink-wrapped. They seem to range from $50-$80, with a few going as high as $90 depending on the store.

I've never mailed anything to anyone before long distance, or even mailed any packages... only letters and bills, so I'm not sure how S&H or insurance or whatever works. But I'm interested in selling them. I thought they were $70-$80 (my old one was a couple years ago), and was going to sell them for $50... but it seems $50 is a standard price, so I'm willing to let them go for $35-$40 + S&H each... or the best offer. I'll sell them to whichever two people (or one) wants them.

I'm not too fond of selling stuff up here, but eBay has some fee for doing it. I figured I'd offer it up here before I worry about anything else. I don't think too many people on here want one... but at least I know the crowd I'm asking uses the internet.

Not sure if they have anything better out by now... but I know this works with both Wireless G and Wireless B. They also have 4 ethernet ports on the back. The link at the top has the info from the linksys site. If anyone is interested, please post here or PM or e-mail me or something. (smurvis at yahoo dot com)

I just bought one of those the other week. Kick-ass router. Works great for both DS and PSP.

Can't you just get an adapter from Nintendo that you can plug into your comp and let you treat your normal broadband like it's wireless for your DS?

Yeah, you can. I have one of those too. The Wi-Fi adapters will run you around $40 with shipping if you buy them from the Nintendo online store though. So, you might as well get a router. I got this router from newegg.com for $55 with free shipping.

If you buy one, I'll even throw in your very own, completely free... fork.

The Nintendo WiFi Connector only works with a DS though, if you have a PSP, laptop, or something else you want to connect wirelessly you need a router or a different brand of USB wifi connector like Datel's. I have a router and a Datel WiFi Max but I can't get the WiFi Max to work.

I'm tempted... I need to get my house wireless for multiple reasons. How much is shipping and handling for one?

I can check and see... it shouldn't be anymore than $10, and that would be like 1 day shipping with really high priority I think.

I can look into it, but I hadn't checked yet cause I didn't want to waste gas finding out the shipping on it unless people were interested.

I want to sell them for $40 if S&H is pretty low... but I'll drop to $35 if S&H is high. I don't want anyone to have to pay more than $45 for the whole thing.

If it's only 45 for the whole I'll get my mom to give me an advance so I can get 1 of them from you.

Ebay's fees aren't all that evil. If you play it smart (and depending on your item's close price), you shouldn't end up with more than 20-30 cents charged. For example, instead of paying ebay 15 or so cents to host a pic, just host it on a free server and type up the url for the image yourself.

                    Also, about shipping-

S&H all depends on weight, destination (from your zip code to theirs), and which service you use.

-First Class Mail is your typical service, which runs from 4-6 days depending on the USPS' volume of mail and the distance between the two parties.

-Priority mail averages 2-3 days and has a slightly high rate than 1st class. However, as the weight of the item increases, the difference is more subtle (you'd only save a few cents if you went 1st class, so why not spare a few more pennies for the rush?). You also get a free box or envelope, tape, and labels if you mail priority.

-Over night/express is pretty self explanatory. The cost is a bit noticeable and I wouldn't urge its use unless its essential.

-The Media mail service is processed last in the USPS, meaning, though it's cheaper, it'll take longer to arrive.

Judging by the size and weight of those routers that I've seen before in Office Depot, I'd say shipping shouldn't run you anymore than $7-9 to any zip code.

Just take it to the PO packaged (unless you wish to mail priority) and ask for postage on the item. Thats all it is to it.

Sorry about the rundown of the USPS services, but I'd thought I'd lend a helping hand. My dad's worked for the post office for the last 11 years.

Re: Sale) Wireless-G Linksys Broadband Router x2

Thanks for the info Jvr... I never knew eBay was that cheap, I thought it was higher. And I didn't know all that about the mail either.

I've got two people that want one. I'm going to the post office on Monday to get some exact numbers on S&H based on what I want to send. If the people that want one would PM or e-mail me their zip codes (preferably mailing address in general), I can see exactly what the cost will be.

Then after I get those numbers, the people who want them can mail out money orders on Wednesday or so, and I can mail out the routers on the same day. I trust you people, and if you say it's in the mail, then it's in the mail. And if it's not... then I have your addresses so I know where to direct the hitmen.

But seriously, I hope to have them in the mail on Tuesday/Wednesday.

If you have their zip codes and have a general idea of the dimensions and weight, you can calculate the cost of postage here-
