How else do you counter your masses of Goons?


Actually, after watching the replay from our earlier game, I have a few ideas.........

Mass Reavers won't do you any good. The best way to take out massive ammounts of goons is with Gaurdians, massive ammounts of lings, or massive ammounts of Archons. Tanks do good too, but I can easyily take out tanks. I just pump out 12 zeals with ugpraded speed and let them tear through Tanks, tanks can't do **** to that many zeals fully upgraded.

I heard terran workers are actually pretty effective against goons, if you micro well.

...Not a fully upgraded goon, they kill SCVs in one hit.

Caciss, go to your router settings (generally just type 192.168.1.1 into a browser window and then type the password to enter, usually administrator unless you've changed it), then go to Port Forwarding, and set port 6112 to whatever your current IP is.

Man, me and Garr were just at it after Snuffles and Magus were defeated. We kept raping each other with carriers. But he still won, due to the fact my base was destroyed. Twice. :p

And we should do a scenario or something, like those Bunker Warz I own at or cannon D.

And the only reason you lost is because you only used hydralisks. A few zerglings can take down more hydralisks for less cost. And a couple of ultralisks are always lethal.

And while I got a $20 battle chest 3 years ago, I don't think it'll be cheaper unless you get it used, and that's risky because someone could have written down and still be using the CD key.

I was gonna own Patryn with my butt load of Guardians.

He only had ground forces (like 100s of zings) and I would've easily took him had he not saved us the time and agreed to surrender.

I rushed Genji on our first match and won. On our second match, he insisted on creating canon fields and making it a pain for me to win. After awhile (what 1 1/2 hours?) I finally destroyed them all only to have to search out a pylon to win.

I then beat Caciss finally. Our best match yet. His terran couldn't match my output, and even though he killed more of my units, I kept them coming.

Yay.

Oh yea, change the intro, Im 9-6 now =p

Just lost at the 11 pm game. It was a marathon 3-way between Garr, Syviar, and myself.

I was almost knocked out early, but I came back. Unfortunately, Garr just overwhelmed me with Archons, Carriers, and Scouts. Not even my Battlecruiser fleet could stand against the sheer numbers.

You really should see the replay, as it includes a very impressive massive air battle between Garr and myself in the middle of Syv's base as it happened that we had both chosen that moment to attack.

I'm going to charge rent next time you guys have an air party in my base -- that is, if I can find where you're both at....It was like sending my guys on the Oregon Trail. Not much luck there; I always get lost on big maps.

I remember playing Garr, and rushing him with Marines and Flame guys got him PO'd. :lol

I also remember that long, long, long ass game with MarlWolf where the tables turned about 5 times. And one time I did a FFA with Syv, Goyle, and someone else and bum rushed all 3 of them at once... died miserably, but it was a hefty dent for aerial dropping Hydras so soon.

Ah... the memories. I think I stayed up til 6:00 AM every morning for the first two weeks I had it.

Also, since I didn't save the replay (whoops :( ) I'm giving you guys the play by play.

We played on Triumvirate, an island map, so Jvr's lame early rush wasn't a problem. I start teching, setting up air defense around my islands perimeter, and building up a sizable Marine army. Jvr and I both expand to the north, but he also expands to the base below me. I continue to tech, build up a few siege tanks and place them at my north base, and build up four science vessels (which would later save my butt.) I'm continuously dropping marines down by his southern base. I destroy his first southern base set-up with eight marines, and then watch them get toasted by hydras. My northern base holds off against an air raid, so I'm slowly rebuilding that. He now decides to attack my weak central base I had just set-up. I now return to bugging his southern base, with groups of marines every few minutes. Eventually, I drop 8 goliaths and 8 marines, just as I max out my all upgrades. This group just shreds through his defenses, making quick waste of it. But, while this is going on, Jvr attacks my northern base with a MASSIVE air force. I take my science vessels, and drop 8 irridates, and continue to so when ever possible. He takes the base, but suffers considerable losses. I take the rest of my ground troops from my earlier raid and slaughter the center base he took from me earlier. He comes in with his remaining air units from the west, on my main base. I was just about to leave with my goliaths, but saw him coming, and dropped them. This left Jvr with no more air units, and no more minerals. I had an army of about 16 goliaths, and something marines left. Then he had to go, BUT VICTORY WAS MINE.

Yea, I hate that gas from the Science Vessels. Gets me every time.

I might had a chance at the end if my 12 overloads (with 4 hydras each) wouldve landed ASAP instead of trying to unload all on the same spot, thus just floating around, getting smoked.

Only 8 or so hyrdras actually made it on the ground, which Caciss' vulture mine's took care of =C

I was out of minerals by then, my southern base was gone, I didnt have gas to create any mutas (and then guardians), and I had to leave, so I just gave in. I lost anyways =p

I woke up this morning realizing what I did wrong in that three-way last night. And it wasn't choosing not to defend that base (I wouldn't have made it anyways).

Now then, I'm gonna whip something up with Qbasic to get the tournament spots randomized. Someones gonna get a first round bye. MAKE SURE TO POST YOUR TOTAL SCORE WHEN YOU WIN, PREFERABLY WITH A SCREENSHOT. (The highest first round total score gets a 2nd round bye.)

The final round will be a three-way. The first, 2nd, and 3rd places will be awarded in order of total score (note that if the last person living does not have the highest total score, they will still get first place.)

Do you have access to the router controls, Hito? If you do, just check what your current IP is (192.168.1.x generally) and forward 6112 to that IP. All you have to do is change it anytime the IP changes (on a restart, for example).

Also, I just watched the replay of our last game. Garr, I understand your frustration. Magus and I had an attack timed so perfectly you could have sworn we were working together. He attacked and soon as you drove him off I came in.

Bungo, you did a nice job, but you need to provide better air cover for your guardians. Always try to have at least 6 if not 12 mutas covering Guardians because anyone who sees guardians will try to blow them out of the sky (I know I will).

edit: I forgot what a mistake it is to play with Random B.net assholes. So I fight this guy, I'm Zerg, he's Terran and I basically pwn his ***** ass. He does the cute thing by building supply depots all over so I hunt 'em down and then HE PAUSES THE GAME, makes me wait 5 minutes, then he says he has to make dinner (at 3:30) AND HE LEAVES. With the game still paused. Luckily, it still counted as a win for me.
