Note: please tell me if you can't see the screenshots so I can fix them.
This is a few months old but I haven't seen anybody talk about it so I want to bring it up. *In April, Eric Chahi released a hi-res version of Another World (Out of this World for Americans). *For those who haven't played it (shame on you) it's a sidescrolling puzzle/adventure that came out in 1991. *
The ENTIRE GAME was made by Chahi which includes animations (he rotoscoped his little brother), graphics, programming, and boxart. *Although the game's pretty "old-school" (READ: cheap deaths, check-point saving, etc.) it tells a REALLY excellent and emotional story and boasts a unique science fiction universe with beautiful hand-animated graphics. *It wasn't that popular but Fumito Ueda (Ico, Shadow of the Colossus) and Lorne Lanning (Oddworld) were clearly inspired by this game for their own projects.

Original 1991 Amiga version.

New windows xp hi-res version.
The game is shareware and costs 7 euros for the full version (about 10 USD) but it's a really good game and I recommend that everyone who appreciates games should play it as it was one of my first games and I enjoyed it when I was little.

Useless Trivia + Other Games By Chahi/Delphine
Despite common belief, Eric Chahi only made 3 games (plus a few random unpublished games).* Since I'm a big fan of his work and all works inspired by him, I'll blabber about them here:
Infernal Runner
My first game on my old C64.* It was a horror/platformer and featured grisly death scenes and haunting music.

Flashback: Quest for Identity
Although it wasn't made by Chahi, it had a similar style and was billed as part of the Another World universe (even though, officially, it wasn't).* It's more cinematic and actioney; kind of like a videogame form of Blade Runner.* There's a rewrite of the engine called REminesce which is available to download.

Heart of the Alien
Despite common belief, it's not a sequel to Another World as Delphine Software billed it to be.* Chahi wanted Another World to end ambiguosly but DS wouldn't allow it.* It's only available for the Sega CD and it contains Another World plus the "sequel."* I bought a Sega CD off Ebay JUST for this game.

Fade to Black
A really bad shooter based off Flashback.* It completely ruined the style but it's a nice collector's item.

Heart of Darkness

Chahi's last original game, this took 4 years to make and it's available on the PS1 and PC.* It's really good but it was overshadowed for newer, 3D games.
Chahi stated he was designing a new game and trying to get back into the developers hotseat but information is pretty lax so far.
