"Process Performance Counter is disabled" I need tech help.

Yeah so, I keep getting this error when I try to run this Forgotten World MMO game I downloaded, no help on the site and no real help on the web.

Does anyone know where the hell I should look to turn it on for this game? I know it should be in the registry somewhere but I don't know what it would be called, or if I should be looking for a process that correlates with the game im trying to run and turn the counter on there.

Anyone, help? I'm not even sure what a process performance counter is.

I think this is what you're looking for.

    Edit-

    Found this:

I succeeded to reenable the appropriate performance counter by opening
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\PerfProc\Performance
    in
the registry and removing an entry named "Disable Performance
    Counters".

That doesnt say disable performance counters though.

Also, Garr not Karr. Hyuk. My first Title.

Also as well and, There's a few instances of Performance, but I have so many with it that I can't figure out which one connects to the game, anyone know how to find out if a program made a registry key, and if so what it's called.

It looks like from the second article you need to enable all the performance counters that have been disabled then try the program again. These seem to be used in the PerfMon utility in Windows which is used to monitor programs and how much CPU, Memory, other resources are being used. I guess the game might use this data to calibrate the internal running parameters of the game depending on System load, but honestly I don't think it should fail because this stuff is not enabled.

So after you try this if it still doesn't work send angry emails to the customer support asking them why this is happening and if there is a patch or workaround for it (well maybe not angry ones as that may insure no response from them).

          So try this
"Reenabling an Extension by Using Regedit.exe
WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
          1. Start Regedit.exe. (You cannot use Regedt32.exe because it does not allow searching for registry values.)
          2. Click to select the following key
          HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services
          3. Select Find from the Edit menu.
          4. In the Find What field, type Disable Performance Counters.
          5. Click Find Next. This will locate a Performance key that may have this Registry value set to 1.
          6. If the Registry value is set to 1, set the value to 0 or delete the Registry value.
          7. Press F3 to find the next occurrence of this Registry value.
          8. Repeat the previous two steps until there are no Performance keys that have the Disable Performance Counters value set to 1."

And start the program again, if it doesn't work contact customer support, and hopefully they'll be helpful. I believe Syvarius gave the general solution for enabling the System-wide performance counter, where as this will look to enable specific extensions that have been disabled, which seems to be what happened in your case, though I can't say for sure as I have not had this problem and none of mine are disabled. In that registry folder you should be able to find one that bears some resemblense to the name of the game.

Heh, I don't seem to have a single value called "Disable Performance Counters" in my entire registry. Looks like I'm boned.
