    A Bit More help?

I don't know if this would be the proper place to put this one, but if it's in the wrong forum, can one of our favorate mods move it for me?

I'm doing it here mostly because I'm using the RPG3 engine not for anything as advanced at RPGM2, but to tell a story as well as I can with the program that is easiest for me. I am currently running a story that has four major layers to the plot, and has several characters portaining to it. My first problem was how to be able to tell the story with less characters, and limited space..I've figured that out by making this in volumes. The next problem I am currently faced with is how to tell the stories.

You have a girl who is trying to "save the world" by following legends about creatures placed by the Guardian of the world if the world is in danger. Somehow (like all fun RPG's) the creatures that were orgionally intended for good became currupt and ended up as boss creatures. Well, after you fight the boss creatures and use a precious item to "summon" what you think is the right creature, you are treated to a flashback.

This is where I am in a bit of a block. I am barely a fourth of the way though my game(seriously, I only have like...2 towns and two half-dungeons created) and I have been working on this flashback scene for the past week or so. To save on time, what would people reccomend I include in this? So far I have a single dungeon and a cut-scene, with two of the main characters(to also be used in later flashbacks), but I don't know how far to go with this, and how long a flashback should be.

I don't want to make it long enough to tell the full story, because that would take up the rest of my memory, but I need to be able to do the following-

    Introduce characters Ravus and Matryre
Get characters out of flashback cave (4 levels)
Get characters to a small town/sanctuary (where main character encounters the monster)
Get characters to fall in love
Get Ravus to stay at the small town/sanctuary
    End the Flashback
    Hopefully not bore the players.

    ? So...any opinions?

Flashbacks don't have to be long at all. A simple, well-placed one-liner from a mysterious source can work wonders when used appropriately. For more complex flashbacks, you could transfer control of the main character to the star of that particular memory...even if it's just for a brief period. It can be a fun way to involve the player in past events. You could temporarily revert them to a child, for example.

For shorter flashbacks involving storyteller, open your scenes with fade-ins combined with a "whooshing" sound effect or two. Maybe add some "murmuring" for an unsettling feel to the scene.

Believe nothing...except for the possibility of everything.

^.^ Thanks. I'm currently running the flashback over three scenes: A cave, a roadside camp, and a town. The only thing I have left is to write out the flashback, and hopefully forward it to some beta readers 'cause my grammar SUCKS.

I'd edit. Y'know, like just go in and make the dialouge all pretty and stuff. I'm taking a Torayu break for a bit.

*laughs* Ah, dearest, I am actually pretty good at making the dialouge sound all pretty..it's just making it consistant and non repeative.

          PM me and we'll talk.
