    help from audio retards requested.

in King's Field: The Ancient City, there's one room with strange voices playing a really mixed up message.

    http://www.kings-field.com/kings_field_4.wav

that is the sound of the voices, clear as day. still makes little sense. there's things about a fortress in there, remaining units, terrorist movement, and "won't let us down". but quite a bit of it is still mixed up, and maybe even backwards.

is anyone here capable of isolating the different voices, or just adding some more clarity to this mystery that has been bugging the hell out of KF fans for a few years now?

*shakes fist in anger at Mark Johnson*

my current theory is that agetec took random audio clips from the news and put them in the game, and that it has no relevance to King's Field at all.

May I have a picture of this room?

As far as I can tell, it's simply miscellaneous clips that one would hear during strategy management. Seems like a mere easter egg to me.

I dunno where I could get a picture of the room. its cave-like, a single unlit torch in the middle, and lots of statues of people (possibly bodies though though) hanging upside-down from the ceiling. of course, you dont see them until you light the torch because the room is pitch black. and then the sound from the torch drowns them out.

          Wow...

          It's repeating stuff like:

          "Remaining units..."
          "...terrorist movement."
          "Won't let us down."
          "...fortress..."

I know what room you're talking about, Valk. It's in the underground tomb in the Holy Forest, right? When I walked in there I nearly had a heart attack. It sounds so creepy when you're standing in the dark! I thought something was going to leap out of the shadows and eat me. >_<

But yeah, it sounds like repeating news clips. Only a few specific sentences though, not a whole lot of things.

I (re)reversed it, and there isn't anything backwards. Just the combinations of all the clips make it seem like gibberish and the first instinct is to think about it in reverse. No such, though.

Basically it's a bunch of speech clips. They distort it further by adding a monotonous "humming", the kind that monks do, in the background.

I tried isolating different pitches, and these are most of the clips:

            "He won't let us down."

            "The indes terrorist movement..."

            "Remaining units without action."

"Gray fortress has been seized(?)" fleed? seiged? it trails off.

then something else, which was the hardest to get, says something like

"Flee at Red fortress" but I honestly have no idea. Too tough to tell.

That's all of the clips, but I'm not sure about them. Pretty creepy, though. Unfortunately it's a mono clip, if it was stereo the voices would probably be in different channels, so they could be further seperated, but.. alas.

Hey valk, link me to the Kings Field community where this was posted. I wanna see a thread or something on it.

could you post your findings there?

EDIT: okay, I'm modifying the damn swear filter.

anyways, agetec forum, KF forum, top topic.

This is the stupidest thing to ever be in a Kings Field game??

"Flee at Red fortress" Sounds more like 'flee at crag fortress' whatever the f that's supposed to mean.

""Gray fortress has been seized(?)"" Doesn't exist as far as I can hear..

I think it's stuff from like, an RTS game or something. Capture the flag? There's stuff about units moving, flags captured and fortresses being taken so.. maybe clips from a game like Team Fortress Classic or something? If someone's played a game with clips like this it might entertain us if you could find a similar clip or two.

"remaining units without injuries flee to ??? fortress"? and then something about he won't let us down and terrorist movments.

that's all i got. i'm horribly bad at mishearing lyrics so it's probably wrong.

What kinda software you running that through Redneck? Just out of curiosity.
Took me 15 minutes to remember how to change my signature, and this is all I came up with.

the only hint given by agetec was "think BIG SCREEN". so maybe a movie?

Sony Soundforge, Pinky. Just putting "envelopes" on it so you can't hear anything above/below a certain pitch. It didn't help too much because it's so overlapping, though.

                          Big Screen, valk? Weirdo.
