It's funny how a few morning events and a radio host can make you think of some serious ****.
He was talking about how you need to get negative people out of your life because they'll bring you down and that they don't want you reaching your full potential for their own personal gain. Now, I know this is mostly BS, but it really got me to thinking. There is a great divide in thought when it comes to people...either I am in control of my own destiny, or I have no control where I end up in life. Some would say that these 2 ways of thought are very much similar to Republican vs. Democrat, since Republicans think you can do ANYTHING you want as long as you put your mind to it, and Democrats think you can only go as far as the system allows you (keep in mind I'm REALLY generalizing here).
Both of these extreme views are wrong, because extreme ways of thought are wrong in the first place. The truth lies somewhere in the middle, and what sucks about that is that it's complicated, and complexity is much harder to accept rather than something simple. We are all capable of a LOT...but, within a certain spectrum of possibilities that our own minds, bodies, and environment allow us.
The worst part is that we don't know what we're capable unless we try. The ****** part of trying is that failure hurts, and failing enough times can make anyone not want to try again. What's hard to realize is that true failure is NOT trying.
If you take anything from this, remember this: don't let anyone tell you that you can't do something. Also, don't let anyone ever tell you that you CAN do anything, but you're not trying hard enough. An optimistic outlook tempered with the constraints of our seperate realities is the key.
