    the vegetable and the tube

    http://www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/03/18/sc...ged/index.html

So they're gonna pull the tube out of the girl and now they're fighting aboot it in the House. The hubby said that's what she wanted, but they have no proof and the parents want her alive. What are your thoughts?

Oh, c'mon, I say pull it. Who would want to live like that?

That's the awesome part. She doesn't have to capacity to understand life.

He described Schiavo as "responsive" although he acknowledged she functions at the level of a 6- to 11-month-old child. She recognizes her family, he said. "She teases. She plays. She smiles. She tries to talk." Schiavo also can breathe and swallow on her own, he said.

Well, I think the funny thing is if you're going to pull the tube, just give her a lethal injection. It's more humane then letting her starve to death.

I've been reading about this case for a long time. I think if she's responsive and still enjoying life to some small degree, it would be rather cruel to let her starve.

Agreed. I think she deserves to live, and should.

hey, here's a lil media manipulation for ya. Y'know that pic of her smiling w/ her parents? That was taken years ago. She has been moreso a vegetable as of lately, but you wouldn't think that of how it's being reported.

actually I'm on the fence on the issue; I just found that interesting.

I'm on the fence too. But if I were in that situation I would wish someone to pull the plug on me asap.

Another thing to consider is the financial burden it must be putting on the husband to keep her alive, when almost none of the woman he married is still there. Horrible, I know, but it's hard to imagine if she could express herself that she would ask to continue living. I don't like the whole starvation thing though.
