Now i know why i dont play fighting games anymore (Tekken: DR)

I suck at most fighting games. Seriously, i cant even get through the first damn dojo. I get to rank 20 and then i get my ass handed to me by EVERY ****ING OPPONENT!

I cant even do a simple 5 hit combo in tekken without taking 5 minutes to execute it right. I love the game, but i'm probably gonna take it back, just because i suck at the game. i'll stick with street fighter and soul calibur, which i can play well, either by attempting to play with skill, or button mashing.

I suck too, save for the few rare occassions of victory in Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and Street Fighter 3.

That's one of the reasons I love Tekken. It's a lot harder to win just by button mashing than in other fighters. It's also one of the reasons I dislike Soul Calibur, because in that series it takes a LOT of skill to beat someone who's just button mashing with a good character.

I'm pretty ok at fighting games generally, but I wish I was better cause I love 'em! I'm getting into Virtua Fighter now, because it's just... an honest fighting game? I don't know how to describe it, but it really has a feeling of accomplishment as you get better, learn combos and reversals, etc. There is a lot of depth in it and winning actually relies on skill instead of button mashing or plain ol' luck.

Gahd. I hate it when I totally know what I'm doing in Soul Calibur only to be beaten by button mashing.

I quit that game forever when someone beat me without looking at the screen.

I'm not saying im a button masher, just that i have a very difficult time mastering the skills and deep and fast combo's you have to enter in some of these games. I really try, but it is just so hard. i buy fighting games left and right, but i almost always end up selling them because i half destroy my controllers before i stop playing.

Almost threw my PSP on a tile floor, i'm sure if would have been fine if i had dropped it, but threw it...no.

I'd play a lot more fighting games if there were any decent arcade-style controllers.

I suck at Guilty Gears, but I love the game.

I personally was never that good at fighting games. I tend to button mash a lot.

I can't stand arcade controllers for consoles. What I liked about it at the arcades was that it was sturdy and at the perfect height, but when I try one at home, I have no where to put it but in my lap, and it can sometimes move around if I go nuts on a game. Basically I'm pushing it around too much or even lifting it at times so I can never get comfortable with it. Also, some joysticks are more "clicky" when pressing a direction while the ones at the arcades are very smooth.

I remember having one for the SNES for the sole purpose of playng street fighter 2 (it was designed for the game), but it just didn't feel the same. So for consoles, I prefer the regular controllers just fine.

I have to say I'm a button masher myself. I'm usually only to do 2 or three simple moves with any characters I play in any given fighting game. Which is why they are not one of my favorite genres. The exception is an N64 game called Mace: The Dark Age. I knew a lot of moves for a lot of the characters in that one. All the reviews I've read of it say it sucks. I kinda liked it though...*shrug*

                      Dave is the same way.

I also have a much better time with actual coin-op units. But I need an arcade stick when I play any of the capcom fighters on a console. I can't parry supers in third strike with a regular DC/xbox controller.
