neat trick for the enter NAME command

    it's a neat trick indeed!

what i did was at the beginning of the story, i prompted the player
to choose gender and personality* then finally a NAME.. so the player would think - AH! it's for me BUT nope that's not for the player.. but for the narrator! which (in my story) will help my player along the way.. in this case, the narrator will have a name everytime he/she's speaking to the player without a 2d graphics of course (for the suspense!) and in the end.. TADA! my player will finally meet the "narrator".. cool,huh..

*sort of a personality test for your player.. then that'll determine the suited "narrator" for the story

I don't get how that'd work. You also know you can't change any entered names.

Say the Narrator's name starts out as Mr. Guy. The player changes it to Bob. In all storytellers and discussions, the Narrator's name would still be Mr. Guy.

this doesn't apply to storrytellers. im talking about the display message in events where you put a data or direct entry for someone who is doing a dialogue. a NAME. you can't use this in the message box itself, but it's cool when your player can assign a NAME to a specific entity.. like a narrator for example.

Or, you could just name a robot frog. That's a much better use of the command.

How exactly would we use this...
It's not much of a neat trick as it is useless.

A robot frog actually lived in my town in Animal Crossing :Wild World. His name was Ribbot. He's since moved away. All he ever talked about was lifting weights and working out. In what other game are you gonna find a robotic frog who wants you to work on your pecs?

I had a robot-bird in my town. Beat that. But enough spam.

I think all this applies to is the name box, y' know, above the message. But I don't know if it'd work, since you can just enter a name as well as select one. I don't think it uses variables.

yeah.. unlike in rpgm2 where you can insert your created name even in message boxes.. but here.. nah, just in the name box. but hey! all u need is acreativity to make the most out of it.. like a characted with an imaginary friend.. your player will name his imaginary friend and actually built a relationship with this "friend" eventually it had a name.. a figure.. until it could actually speak to you thru dreams.. well the the rest is up to you.. the catch? the imaginary friend can call the player by his name, while the player can only call the imaginary friend - well, er.. friend.. hehe..

It wouldn't work. You can't enter a changing name in the namebox. That requires input variables, which RPGM3 has not.
