Wacky plot summary for Silent Hill on IMDB

A woman desperate to save her dying child finds herself trapped in an alternate reality as she searches for her daughter in a dangerous world of demons. Rose cannot accept the knowledge that her daughter Sharon is dying of a fatal disease. Over the protests of her husband, she flees with her child, intending to take the girl to a faith healer. On the way, she ends up driving through a portal in reality, which takes her to the eerie and deserted town of Silent Hill. Sharon disappears in Silent Hill, and Rose follows what she thinks is her daughter's silhouette all over town. It's soon clear the town is not like any place she's ever been. It's inhabited by a variety of creatures and a living darkness that descends and literally transforms everything it touches. The human inhabitants - the ones who are left - are trapped and fighting a losing battle against the Darkness. Joined by a cop named Cybil, who has been sent to bring her and Sharon back, Rose searches for her little girl while learning the history of Silent Hill and that Sharon is just a pawn in a larger game. To save her daughter, Sharon makes a deal with a demon in the form of a little girl, and allows the forces of darkness to take the town and destroy those who tried to destroy the demon.

That's what some user put for the plot summary. Some of it is the stuff we've heard confirmed before, but then the part at the end doesn't sound familiar at all. How much do you think is actually in the script and how much is Internet bull****?

I hope this isnt a literal battle with guns and ninja kicks and ****... and why not just use harry or whoever from the first game, if they're gunna have cybil... god im losing faith in this.

IMDB has lots of idiots, so believing anything from there is a recipe for disaster.
Said recipe has peanuts, so dont eat it if you're allergic.

There's a difference between idiot-proofing and leaving gaping plot holes. Hopefully the script of the movie finds a middle ground that is neither pandering nor obtuse.

Yeah, I agree with mora, films can't have the kinds of holes you can drive a train through that games can get away with.

You remind me of a series of awful ninja movies in which the endings would happen in sporadic places. (A dude would take rejected scripts, fill them full of ninjas, then make the movies.) Once, they killed the bad guy, and...

"We did it."
"Good."

I dunno if IMDB is a reliable source for plots, for sure. Still, can't wait for the SH movie. Even if it is being renamed something stupid.

IMDB updates posted by users can get out of hand sometimes.

I just love when someone gets something way off and a correction is sent in to replace it but gets shot to hell.
