The Boondocks - Season 1 DVD

The Boondocks season 1 came out today and I couldn't resist buying it. It's 100% uncut... and by 100%, I mean EVERYTHING... like grandpa's balls when he's excercising naked in the first episode. It features all 15 episodes presented with a nice comic book style menu and has supplementals like deleted scenes, animatics, unaired adult swim promos (and for good reason, they were raunchy as hell). It's worth the $40 price tag and I recommend it to everyone who likes a good bit of satire in their cartoons.

For those that haven't seen it or heard of it, it's based off a controversial comic book (only moreso in the show) that pokes fun at "racial superiority" and despite what some people think it actually makes fun of stereotypical black people and the "BET" society more than anything else. I recommend it for those that don't mind a bit of nasty language.

I despise the boondocks. its not funny at all in comic strip or animated form.

I do think it could have had a more original style but the comic has always been anime style so I see why they stuck with it. Still, unlike most non OVA anime this show doesn't recycle frames... which is the one thing I hate about anime the most.

There is but that would be a 10 page essay so I'll spare you the trouble of not reading it.

I saw an episode where two gangsta rappers were gay... I was like, "What?"

It's a good show, but like most of the people in this thread, I'm not feelin' the whole anime style.

I have never once laughed at the Boondocks and don't plan on doing so in the future

My friend showed me two episodes, the one where they kidnap Oprah and the Bob Ross one. I like the Oprah one but only because I've discussed several times wanting to kidnap Oprah. Not for anything sinister, I just want to force her to reenact scenes from The Color Purple, Beloved, and The Women of Brewster Place. And the whole n**** technology spiel was good.

The Boondocks can basically be wrapped up in one sentence:

"Nigga nigga, Oprah, nigga nigga nigga, George Bush, nigga nigga nigga, White people, nigga nigga nigga nigga"

                      Thank you.

Didn't the comic strip used to have characters that weren't the kids and their grandpa? That they, you know, comedically interacted with? Half the strips nowadays are just that one kid sitting in front of the TV with the punchline being him looking at the reader after the TV says something about Bush or "Condy" or whatever.
