If you had to pick one (or more) games that changed how you viewed video games (as in, "I never thought something like this was possible"), which game(s) would it(they) be?
I have a feeling I'm going to see at least one mention of Grand Theft Auto III.
For me, I would have to say Ogre Battle for the SNES, because I never knew before this that there was a game that could take the idea of a role-playing game and stretch it so far and do so much within that genre (I didn't even know until years later that there was a genre known as strat-rpg). I have Nintendo Power to thank for introducing me to this game. In two or three issues, it was heavily featured in the RPG corner of the mag. I would almost have to say that this game was the best $80 I ever spent (without even having a job!). It opened my eyes to see that there were no limits within the limitations of the SNES hardware. That game FORCED you to micromanage, and hence my love of micromanagement in games even to this day.
The second game on this list is Morrowind. I never imagined how utterly huge a game could be. I must have spent close to 200 hours on that game split between two characters, and combined, I think I only explored about 1/4 of the land mass. It just blew me away, what with the amount of programming that must have gone into it. Oblivion is really pretty, sure, but it doesn't hold a candle to Morrowind in terms of the impact it had on me as a gamer. Some of its ideas even influenced my first RPGM game, Series 1: Destiny Beckons. NYC in the RPGM Mag review had my game pegged.
Anyway, I'm feeling a little verklempt, so discuss amongst yourselves.

Too bad it's a disc-swap game, which means we can't play it on our modded system. We would have to have a JP playstation, which I've been thinking about getting just for Vib Ribbon.
