    FFIX Zidane question.

how the hell do you pronounce his name? I've heard countless variations ranging from Zid-ayn (which is what I use) to Zid-ah-nay, to Zee-da-nee

Yeah, that sounds about right. I pronounce it the same way. Except I stress the "ayn" by adding "e" ("ayne").

I always assumed it was the Zi-dane. Never occurred to me to pronounce it any other way. Then again I still can't see him as a male so what do I know. Honestly, when they first showed Zidane hitting on Garnet I was all ZOMG Lesbians!

I'm sure the Japanese pronounce every syllable and twitter at ZidanexKuja doujinshi, but I just call him Zih-dayn.

Does he even have the same name in the original Japanese? I remember hearing Amarant's was changed.

Zidane is a common french Canadian name, well. probably just a common french name altogether. But I think it's actually Arabic. It's Zi-dan. Remember the soccer play who head butted that guy at the world cup?

In english, it should be Zy-dane because a vowel appears after the 'd' making the 'i' a capital sounding letter... or atleast that's what I got from english class.

This is why the english is the most difficult language to learn (properly atleast); too many rules.

Definately an awkward name. I always just called him Monkey Boy.
