Wii don't want no stinking Friend Codes.

I was hoping Wii would do away with the friend code system. I don't know about you guys but I've posted my FC on the game sites I frequent and built up a hefty friends list on Animal Crossing and Mario Kart but all of three people have added me back. And I've only managed to actually play with someone once. The friend code thing is annoying.

But unfortunately, according to a hidden page on Nintendo's site which was pulled once found, Wii will be using friend codes as well.

At least its more refreshing than constantly complaining about Sony, Red Dragon. Now they can have a short break.... at least for a couple of hours.

There needs to be a built in system for muting other players quickly and easy.

I can understand using Friend Codes for Animal Crossing. You wouldn't want some random person coming into your town and cutting down all the trees or something. ...Although I suppose it wouldn't be a problem if it were made so that you couldn't bring destructive items like axes into another person's town, regardless of being a friend or not.

Anyway, the Friend Code system pretty much sucks for any other game. It is incredibly annoying when you've got two people NWC took forever to find, only to have one of them decide he changed his mind, which results in the entire search being cancelled. Plus, I want to be able to search through some rooms to see if a person I want to play with is on, not hope that the person is both on, and has inputted my Friend Code. There's so many awesome players I have played against that I wish I could play against once more. Likewise, I still can't snake good enough, so it would make it a bit easier avoiding those people, without having to forfiet points by booting myself off since with the current search system I don't find out who I'm playing against until it's too late.

How do drop out in the middle of a race in Mario Kart? I put my DS on sleep mode while searching online, and by the time I came back to it, a race had already started, and my opponents were already on their second lap. I tried to hit start and select, but that did nothing. I know there's a way to do it, because sometimes after someone comes in last place, he'll drop out of the rest of the races. How is it done?!?!

But keep in mind you gain a loss point for every opponent still racing. As long as you're getting loss points, you might as well goof off.

I just finished another session. I have to wonder how we get a full screen of opponents yet the thing still gets cancelled sometimes. Bad interenet connections? I dunno. Still, how hard is it to find a group of players? What are the odds that there really is only one or two people searching for opponents at the same time as you in the section you're searching in? Come on, Nintendo, just give us a "create a game" option and allow us to wander into created games, not go into a random search that's very unsuccessful. And give us a block option.

I never play Mario Kart online or at all anymore. I dont find it fun for some reason. Snakers made it soooo unfair and just not fun anymore.

Friend codes really aren't that bad if they also include rooms. The FC could just be like a better friend list.

Ever play online and have somone randomly put yoiu on their FL then 4-5 months later they randomly start talking to you? Yeah it's weird.

So how does the scoring work, anyway? I'm a bit confused, because it says I have 12 wins and 13 losses, but I only came in first once (I tied someone else). Do the wins count if you finish the race ahead of someone else?

Re: Wii don't want no stinking Friend Codes.

You gain a win for every opponent you beat in the final scoring and every opponent who boots out mid-game. You gain a loss for ever opponent you lose against in the final scoring and every opponent you're currently up against when you boot out. So losing only really hurts if you end in third or fourth place or if you lose when racing one-on-one.

There's really only two things I dislike about the Friend Code system.

                          1) Different FC for each game.
                          2) Adding someone else is useless if they don't add you.

That combined with the fact that the codes are confusing to begin with and easy for someone to write down wrong and screw up the whole process makes it a big annoyance.

If you don't want to recieve losses for each of your opponents when you play Mario Kart online, rather than shut your system, what you want to do is exit the range for your wi-fi connection and get disconnected.

Sometimes when I beat people in Mario Kart I like to imagine that they're too big of a baby to take the loss and that to pull themselves from the match they're getting up and literally running out of their house and onto the street.

...Then getting run over by traffic.

I tried snaking. I'm not as good as those who can do it infinately, though. Somewhere along the lines, my thumb starts getting sweaty and slippery and I fail at moving the D-pad properly, to where it affects even normal power-sliding. Frankly, I don't like snaking. I'm too busy concentrating and making the right movements that I fail to pay attention to the fun I could be having by throwing that spiny shell at my opponent.

You sure getting out of range doesn't count as a Loss? I don't care, I'm not going to boot myself out. Like I said, if I find a snaker who won't go easy on me (I go easy on people lesser skilled than myself, so long as they're at least able to power-slide around turns), I just goof off. No sense worrying about my loss, I'm going to just have fun while the snaker makes super effort to finish a race, being unable to enjoy the arcade play to its fullest.
