massage chair questions

I tried to google for massage chairs, but the only ones I could find were around $300-400 for the actual chairs the therapists use and around $2000-$3000 for the ones that are leather and have the remote control.

My question is... are they worth it for therapy reasons? For anyone with a bad neck/back/shoulders... does a massage chair help much? I was looking for one in the $500-$800 range, but I want to be sure it'll get the job done.

Again, not just for comfort, but specifically one for helping with neck/shoulder/back pain. This is the only thing I could find sorta similiar to what I was thinking of.

Any leads or ideas?

Did you browse through what amazon.com has to offer.. sometimes you can find good deals (though I imagine shipping costs would be a *****). Maybe look through your phone books for listings of local stores that might carry massage chairs? That way, if you're going to shell out $500+ on it, you can at least see it in person and know exactly what you're buying.

My dad has a bad back, so he bought a massage cushion rather than an entire chair. I don't know if that would be enough for you, but they're considerably cheaper. It might be worth researching.

Does the cushion work ok for your Dad? Does he think it makes a big difference?
