So yeah, my bf's copies of Tetris DS and Meteos are completely nonfunctioning now. Why? He took them out before turning off the system. I think he did it because we're used to doing so for PSP games. I'm a little ****** and frustrated that something so little could kill an "indestructible" Nintendo product, but it's probably not something you're supposed to do...so be careful out there, kids.

Re: Two DS games...DEAD.
I actually did the same thing a few times with old Game Boy games and the Super Game Boy. Load up a Super Game Boy game, get to a spot where I like the color scheme, unplug the game without turning the system off, and plug in a non-SGB game. I found out how SGB games get their color schemes this way. Apparently the SGB places something like a colored film over a certain area; doing that trick, you'd have spots on part of the screen that were a different color than other spots.
Of course, doing this always deleted any save files the games might've had.
I think I took out a DS game or GBA game without powering down the system before. But it was while on the boot menu screen, so I assumed that taking a game out wouldn't hurt anything, since you can do the same thing on the boot menus on every other system. The DS froze, but I was able to power it down and there wasn't any damage as far as I could tell.Last edited by ErikaFuzzbottom; 07-14-2006, 12:54 PM."What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. I was probably only 13 at the time. I'm not sure why I uplugged the games while they were turned on in the first place. It couldn't have been something I frequently did."What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Re: Two DS games...DEAD.
You should try cleaning the games. Just gently wipe the bottom part with the little metal things sticking out with a cloth like the PSP screen cleaner. Sometime if DS games get too much dust (or drops of coca cola :P) on that part the DS won't read them. Same with GBA games.

Re: Two DS games...DEAD.
I knew an old lady who removed the cartridge with the power still on. I don't know why she removed the cartridge with the power still on...
I guess she'll die.
They warn you not to do that in every game manual, plus the system manual. It's flash memory. Would you yank out your PS2 memory card while it's saving/loading?

Information isn't constantly burned onto a cd while playing it. Now if you did the same thing with your memory card while it was loading or saving, THEN you'd have problems.Originally posted by SmurtleSometimes I'll open the Playstation, watch the screen freeze, and pop in a new game and reset.
No harm done to CDs.
But I was real protective of my NES, SNES, and 64. If someone pulled a trick like that on my Nintendo, they'd never touch it again.

Re: Two DS games...DEAD.
As it turns out, opening the PlayStation during FMVs is about required in order to get some weapon by reaching the end of FF9 in less than 12 hours. Open the case, close it back up, it skips the rest of the FMV."What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change.
