    Hyperthermia

I guess I didn't have enough respect for the sun, or I just didn't care because the waterpark looked like so much fun, but now I am pretty sure I am suffering from sunstroke. This morning I barfed six times consecutively and had a migrane headache. Now my back is starting to fall off. I will never disrespect the closest star again, because it owned my ass something fierce.

You gotta know your limits. I was always jealous of my bro cuz he didn't have to worry much about that stuff since he's naturally way darker than me (weird, I know) and tans easier, not burning. Keep that SPF handy!!!

I was starting to feel a little dizzy earlier today. This may not seem like much to you guys furthur south, but we've got 92 degrees with 60% humidity. I only was out for 15-20 minutes before the heat felt like it was getting to me, though I was helping with building the new pool deck (mostly my job is just to help carry the boards).

On top of that, I've got my air conditioning set to 79. It's been running for who-knows-how-long at 83. My power bill's gonna be through the roof.

Speaking of "down south", how are you fellas from the "land down under" doing with your winter? ....Come to think of it, I guess you guys wouldn't call your own country that, would you? I guess to you, you're normal and we're from the "land up above".

Yeah, the sun tried to kill me once. I was traveling in my car (no AC) from Austin to SA and back again. Once I got back to Austin, I went to the store to get something to drink. I was really dehydrated and terribly hot (it was about 100 degrees outside at the time).

I started to feel like ass, so I walked over to a bench to sit down. Before I could make it there, I collapsed, dropping to the floor like a sack of bricks. Later on, one of the EMTs that helped me out said he'd never seen anyone with blood pressure/pulse that low still be alert and talking.

The best thing to do after being exposed to extreme heat is to rest and drink as much as you can (although sometimes it's better to take it slow so you don't inadvertently make things worse).

I recommend monitoring your time in the sun, and drinking lots of water if you have to stay outside for more than 30 minutes.

            And remember:

I had it even worse. I decided to walk on this trail.

In my stupidity, I didn't bring any water and was wearing jeans.

So I kept walking, walking, and soon the trail ended at a branch. I had walked a good 3 miles. Then I thought I should just follow the trail that went around the lake. Well bad idea. It kept going on, and on, and on.

I was tired, thirsty, burnt, ect. It took me about 7 miles to get to the road. Which turns out, I needed to walk another 4 miles to get back to my car.

I just kept walking. My mouth was dry as a desert, and I could barely keep going. I was so tired and thirsty, I tried two churches that I walked past, but no one was in. I tried an elementry school, but the school was locked up as well as the bathroom.

I got lucky and happen across a convience store, and the guy's son offered me a ride to my car. I was about a mile away from my car then.

Afterwards, I couldn't walk, I was throwing up bloody mucas, and couldn't eat. I still have a blister on my foot, and my legs are still sore. It was Monday I did this stupid thing.

I much prefer jeans even in hot weather. I only have four pairs (why do they call them pairs if there is only one?) and the two ligher pair have a hole under the crotch (you can't see them unless you look for them), and it does get a little warm with them, but I make do.

Only time I wear shorts (besides when I go swimming) is if it's hot out and I know I'm going somewhere where I'll be out in the heat for a long while, such as a theme park. I'll still wear jeans when walking the bike trail, though.

Ditto. I can't tan for the life of me. One of my brothers tans fairly easy, though. I just don't get it.

Oh you poor thing!! I feel for you I reall realy do, Funk. And Von, you might want to see a doctor. Vomitting bloody mucus is no bueno.

I burn unbelievably easy. I cant be out in the noon sun for more than 10 mins without SPF 45 or higher without burning. I have passed out before and was also taken to the ER for second degree burns on more than 50% on my body from the sun (I was a junior is high school, it was spring break and I fell asleep at the beach).

The sun is a fickle whore. We cant live without it but it can revoke you as well.

Sometimes it feels good to peel the dead skin off.

I once had my nose totally burnt, and I woke up the next day with this thick yellow crust all over it. I think it was puss that oozed out, and dried up.

My moms side of the family all got darker skin from my mexican grandmother, while my dads side is full of white as can be italian, and scottish ancestors.

My brother and sister took after my mom, while I took after my dad. They tan, I burn.
