Your thoughts on the politics effects on videogames....

I have always thought of those special, somehat horrific thoughts on future events that could cause the commerical flow of goods like video games, movies, books, ect. from other countries to stop or slow down dramatically.

What would happen if we were to get into a conflict with China, which could cause traffic from and to Japan to lower. That would mean few to no video games from there. No more anime.

Granted we have the internet. But wouldn't world events like that or even an isolation mentality that could develope here, cause a shortage of goods to come here?

I just thought I would put the question up there. I mean politics and geographic disturbances always change. We have grown use to having access to such goods. But what if that were to change?

What are your thoughts on the idea?

a war in china wouldnt effect our relations with japan. almost everything going to and from there crosses the pacific, rather than across china and the rest of the world first.

You should worry more about politics and games within americas borders before something like that.

Most of the governor/senator/representative candidates flashing their ugly mugs all over television for the state of Oklahoma use the opposition of violent video games as one of their banners to get elected.

But then, they almost all say that gay marriage is a sin.

I don't know about you guys, but I noticed that when games are mentioned on television as being controversial the sales for them actually go up. Before Grand Theft Auto III came out (as GTA was relatively unkown because previous titles weren't popular) my county news was all a buzz with things like "NEW VIDEO GAME GIVES YOU EXTRA POINTS FOR KILLING OLD PEOPLE." All of a sudden GTAIII started rising in popularity and when it was released stores across my state were all sold out in a matter of hours.

So yea, go ahead and "attack" games on tv. They're only secretly advertising them. I bet sales for San Andreas shot up when people heard of a secret porn game.
