    Those ARMs sure are Wild.

Not the greatest games ever made, but I'm a fan of the series.

    Wild Arms

One of my favorite games. Very charming, fun, and it has a great soundtrack to boot.

    Wild Arms 2

I liked this one. The battle system was a lot more polished, but the storyline was... meh.

    Wild Arms 3

Played and beat it. Still don't know what the hell the storyline was about. By the end you're fighting some little girl.

    Wild Arms: Alter code F

The first one gets a makeover, Wild Arms 3 style. It lost a lot of its charm in the 3D transititon. Quit when I got to Milama Village in disguist. They even managed to screw up the music. HOW did they do that??

    Wild Arms 4

I'm currently playing this one right now. I'm liking it a lot. I just wish more cutscenes were in full 3D rather than switching to dialogue boxes. It feels like they're starting to push the series in the right direction. But I'd like it it you could still use tools anywhere, and make the platforming a little more intense. The HEX battle system is alright. And I don't mind the storyline that much, better than Wild Arms 3 that's for sure. They kind of axed the western theme though.

    Wild Arms: The Vth Vanguard

This one's currently in the works. Main character's name is Dean and he weilds a SHOVEL. Other two characters are Avril (the one with the sword) and Rebecca. Looks promising.

Here is a tip for those that are playing Wild Arms. Once you beat the first disk open your window and throw your second disk out the window. Believe me you are better off having the end of the first disk being the end of the game.

      Talking about Wild Arms 2?

Yeah, the second disc is pretty lame. With some very stupid plot revelations. But if you throw the second disc out you're missing out on fighting all the secret bosses. I loved that about that game. There were so many secrets.

I beat WA 4 just last week.

I really enjoyed it very much.

I hope there is a more of a love story in the 5th one.

        SPOILERS....

        Sad ending...

Hm...I bought Alter Code F a while back cuz I enjoyed the 1st and didn't get to beat it. Anyone else have a positive take on F?

I loved Alter Code: F, even moreso than the original game. considering the original Wild Arms was my favorite PS1 RPG, thats saying a whole damn lot.

Re: Those ARMs sure are Wild.

F was great it some ways, but I think it screwed up in others. Dungeon designs are great, but the towns are smaller (Adlehyde is a castle and, what, four houses?), some of the music is even better (Alone in the World and Sweet Candy for example), but some is worse (The music in the Arctica Castle prologue is not grand at all, and Zed's Theme is not very fun anymore), and maybe this is just me, but despite the fact that the new fully 3D models are more expressive than the sprites in the original, I found myself not giving a damn at all about the characters most of the time, especially in the prologue and the funeral. And the whole timed-text-progression that kicked in about halfway through was dumb as hell.

I did like that Rudy used his ARM as his main weapon instead of a sword... Wild ARMs just did not need a remake.

Hell, I don't know why I keep buying them. It's because I played Alter Code F that I decided not to get the fourth one, but maybe I'll pick it up so that later on a can go on ebay and sell 'em all together.

Maybe Vth Vanguard'll be good. It's got a dude with a shovel and a hot redhead to boot!

This makes me not even want to play the game as Zed is one of my favorite rpg villains. He started the whole "bumbling idiot fight me 10 times" cliche.

I own all of the Wild Arms games currently released but I've only played through the first one to completion. I'm currently near the end of 2 but I'm really hating the game. After the first disc the story just goes in a completely random direction...

kind of like xenogears. WHAT A TWIST!

I didn't find Xenogears story on the second disk random. They just did the annoying, telling you what is happening rather than letting you experience it. Wild Arms 2 second disk had a story that seemed to have been written by a group of brain dead 3 year olds.

The ultimate enemy is what!?! You can't kill that! What you can? How!?!

                    Nah, that would be Ultros.

Another thing that fries my beans. How do you go from this (cool, fluid Wild Arms 2 intro) to this (goofy, stilted and obvious Alter Code F intro)?

Oh yeah, I forgot all about that intro movie. There is a reason to keep the second disk after all. I also wished that they would have a spin off of Anastasia's storyline. Would have been much better than the second disk anyway.

30 minutes into Wild Arms 2's second disc I said to myself "did the writers just get finished playing Final Fantasy 7 after a session of smashing themselves in the foreheads with bricks?"

                        yea, it was really bad.

I agree. While I never understood why they put the <sword magess> in little arrow thingies (is it that hard to say SWORD MAGESS... just Sword Magess) Anastasia and that emo girl she lived with hinted at a cool backstory that was only explained to Kanon in cryptic messages.

Liz and Ard (or whatever his name was) were cool too. Liz's absurd dialog kept me entertained.

In fact, this is Wild Arms 2's biggest problem; it introduces too many characters without actually fleshing them out. All of the Odessa guys like Caina, Ptolomy, and that crazy guy with the glasses had the potential to be neat villains but in the end they just turned out to be soulless RED SHIRTS.
Why DID Caina fight with a key and had extraplanar powers? How did Liz and Ard ever join Odessa since they can't make a proper monster? WTF kind of name is LORD BLAZER!?!?

From the demo I played of Wild Arms 3 I know (or atleast hope) it'll be a lot better in terms of characterization. The rival adventurer seemed like a good idea and a decent character.

Zed is extremely awesome in Alter Code: F. he can even join your party.
