What do you believe (NOT A RELIGIOUS TOPIC - more like a survey) *UPDATED*

No one has to answer these if they want, but I think it may be interesting to see where some people stand.

    OK:

Here's mine:Chupacabra, Moon landing, Kraken, and Psychics.

    Aliens - REAL
    Atlantis - REAL
    Bigfoot - REAL
    Chupacabra - NOT REAL
Dark Side of the Oz - REAL
    Ghosts - NOT REAL*
Kraken - REAL (This or other large marine creature)
Loch Ness Monster - NOT REAL
    Moon Landing - REAL
    Psychics - REAL
    Werewolves - NOT REAL
    Vampires - NOT REAL

I put an asterisk next to ghosts because I do not believe they are spirits of deceased humans. I believe "ghostly activity" is leftover remanents of a human's physical and mental presence, not the actions of a deceased spirit.

As for Atlantis: I believe it was real as Plato described it, but not as the farfeched lasers/computers/flying machines Atlantis as created by later people trying to spark interest in the subject.

      Aliens - Not Real
Atlantis - Real (well, I believe it existed as the Classical Greek city Heliki, which was covered by a typhoon. They just rediscovered it and are excavating it.)
      Bigfoot - Not Real
Dark Side of the Oz - Huh?
Ghosts - Not real. They are demons, not ghosts.
Loch Ness Monster - Real, but it doesnt live in Loch Ness. That is, I think there might be some dinosaurs left over that live in the sea, but I dont think any live in Loch Ness.
      Werewolves - Not Real
      Vampires - Not Real

Here is a list of "cryptids" or legendary monsters (like Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster) with their current status; extinct, likely or discredited

Dark Size of the Oz - What?
        Ghosts - Real
        Loch Ness Monster - Real
        Werewolves - Uncertain
Vampires - Real, but not in the Hollywood/Dracula sense.

Yes, there are people who have an unusual thirst for blood. But there's no fangs, no fear of the sun (it is in fact possible for someone to be instantly injured by the sun's light, but it's a comletely unrelated skin condition), no unnaturally pale skin, no neck-feeding, and most certainly no turning into bats or sleeping in coffins.

Since everyone here seems to not know what Dark Side of the Oz is, I decided to see if I could find anything.

Is this what you mean, Funk?

Yeah, "Dark Side of the Oz" or "Dark Side of the Rainbow" is the belief that Pink Floyd deliberately synched "Dark Side of the Moon" with "The Wizard of Oz". I threw that one in just for fun and confusion.

Loch Ness, possibly, but not Bigfoot. No one "created" the Bigfoot myth. Small and large hominids have been seen by Native Americans since before Europeans came here, and Americans have been seeing them since the beginning of the Westward Expansion. Now, a lot of Bigfoot sighting MAY be mistaken bear sightings, but all North American animals can only walk upright for very short periods of time. Most Bigfoot sightings are of an animal that walks upright for very long periods. Plus, the footprints are frequently found. I doubt a hoax of this magnitude could be staged. Also, I know reputable people that had encounters with Bigfoot-like creatures. I know it seems improbable, but I personally believe there is a large hominid creature living in the northwest U.S. and in Canada.

My thoughts pretty much line up with yours. Life probably exists off-earth, but I'm not even sure about it managing intelligence, much less puttering about in our backyards probing rednecks.

Also, I believe there's some bizarre, undiscovered life-forms in the deepest parts of the ocean, and it may pre-date dinosaurs, but I think the dinos are long gone, if we're not counting evolved descendants.

Werewolves and vampires were added to make the list longer and more beefy.

Nothing was ever hurt by being made longer and more beefy.

According to Michael Wallace, Bigfoot is a hoax that was launched in August 1958 by his father Ray L. Wallace (1918-2002), an inveterate prankster. Shortly after Rayís death, Michael revealed the details of the hoax, which were reported widely in the press. Ray had a friend carve him 16-inch-long feet that he could strap on and make prints with. Wallace owned a construction company that built logging roads at the time and he set the prints around one of his bulldozers in Humboldt County. Jerry Crew, a bulldozer operator, reported the prints and The Humboldt Times ran a front-page story about ìBigfoot.î The legend was born. However, a former logger, 71-year-old John Auman, claims Wallace left the giant footprints to scare away thieves and vandals who'd been targeting his vehicles. His hoaxes didn't begin until after he'd seen what a stir he'd created.
