Re: A sony fans rant...
Hey! Legend of Dragoon kicked ass. "Tut, a trifle wound." "You will make good wife someday." "Ha! Guh! Die. More and more!"
I've gotten over my post-E3 Sony hate. I've even come to terms with the price and all. I still think the controller was a hack-job rip off but that's neither here nor there. At this point I'm neutral towards the PS3. But I still have no interest in getting one because MGS4 is still the only confirmed exclusive game I want.
As far as the games costing up to $100 I assume that rumor is based mostly on the PSM Kaz Hirai interview.
The way he avoided comparing to 360 prices makes it clear they will be more expensive. If they're smart they'll stay at the current price rate for the launch titles at least. I'm guessing second or third run of PS3 games will hit $70-80 with the excuse being you get a lot more game on the Blu-Ray. The question is will developers actually be making games big enough to fill that space? I doubt it, at least not for quite a while.PSM: Can we expect PlayStation 3 games to be priced in the same range as Xbox 360 titles?
Kazuo Hirai: Generally speaking, over the past twelve years or so, there has been a consumer expectation that disc-based games are maybe $59 on the high end to $39 on the low end. So, what I can say now is, I think it would be a bit of a stretch to turn around and say "PS3 games now $99.99." I don't think the consumers expect the software pricing to suddenly be double.
So, the quick answer is that we want to try to make it as affordable as possible, knowing that there is a set consumer expectation for what software has cost for the past twelve years. That's kind of the best answer I can give you. So, if it becomes a bit higher than fifty-nine bucks don't ding me, but, again, as I said, I don't expect it to be a hundred bucks.Last edited by DarkwingChuck; 07-10-2006, 01:17 AM.I want that Mulan McNugget sauce, Morty!

You mean besides Final Fantasy?
Wow, how about that. Two posts were made since I started looking at this topic and wrote my reply.Last edited by ErikaFuzzbottom; 07-10-2006, 01:30 AM."What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Re: A sony fans rant...
Actually, games frequently have bigger budgets than movies nowadays.where did you hear that? Maybe some of the small movies studios release during "dumping season" in Feb-May to none of the movies that everyone talks about.
I've read that MGS2 was in the neighborhood of 10 million and a budget that's considered "outrageous" these days is like 20 million, no where near the 250 million Superman Returns cost to make.
That call was pretty funny, I liked when he was like "SHOW ME THE MONEY"Last edited by DK; 07-10-2006, 11:15 AM.

Re: A sony fans rant...
probably because millions more people see movies in the theater and then buy the dvd than a videogame.Originally posted by GoufunakiWhy is it that I can buy a movie for about $15-20, that cost the studio MILLIONS and millions of dollars to create, yet videogames that obviously didn't cost as much to produce sell for $30-60+?

Re: A sony fans rant...
I personally don't know why, but with movies you just watch them for the allotted time(which is usually in the neighborhood of 1.5-2 hours), but with games you do a lot more(which last a lot longer).
I bet people would whine if games had the same production standards as movies.
