    Invoking Ignatz: Brick Attack Remortared

I'm not one to revisit past glories or beat a dead horse... But I recently discovered Krazy Kat and Ignatz.

A comic strip by George Herriman that began in 1913, it's about an irascible mouse (Ignatz) who torments a poor lovelorn cat (Krazy Kat) while escaping the lawful Officer Pupp. Clearly the inspiration for Calvin & Hobbes, Mickey Mouse, Tom & Jerry and others for sure, each strip is superbly written, imaginitive and shares several common running gags. For example, Ignatz repeatedly throws something at Krazy Kat. And you know what that something is?

    A brick.

Imaginari folk may remember Brick Attack. George Herriman's been throwing bricks back when Woodrow Wilson was in office. I threw 'em and I never even knew about Krazy Kat & Ignatz until a week or two ago. So you can imagine how blown my mind was.

Burgeoning cartoonists may want to see what Krazy Kat is about at Wikipedia or check out what's available at Amazon (I read Book 1927-1928). ...Unless of course I'm an idiot and you all know about Krazy Kat and have been reading it since the Great War!

Wait. ...What's that saying? Great minds think alike?

I guess that makes me a genius.

Granted, those colors may be horrid but the original, larger black and white is here.

So there you have it. A beautiful bonnie brick tossed so pure with honor and respect! Like Ignatz, let your bricks fly fast and true. Good hunting!

Aw, memories. Now if I could get all of that, and ryners pavilion stories where smurvis was playing with the marl plush doll i'd be set for life.
"At first it just looked like a picture of a bunch of lily pads, but then I started scraping at it with my pocket knife and the whole painting just sort of spoke to me," Schmidt said. "For the first time, I finally understand what Monet was trying to get across in her work."

someone mentioned a while ago that they still had all the Brick Attack strips. I cant remember who, though.

has anyone here ever tried throwing a brick with any accuracy? it's f'ing hard.

I did a strip, but it ha s been lost to the wastes of the internet (meaning I deleted it off my photobucket account like forever ago.) those were good times.
            Simpler times.
A time when men were REAL men, women were REAL women, and small furry things from alpha centauri were REAL small furry things from alpha centauri!!

Hmm, for some reason I know of this Krazy Kat.
The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

It was a Wikipedia 'article of the day' thing a few weeks back.
Thats the only reason I know about it.

                    Whos up for a sequal?

Id be willing to not churn out somehting that didnt take me 10min in MS paint, looks decent, and wont totally mess up the story. I still hate that crappy page I made. I dont even think I have it anymore. I think everybody just kinda omitted it from the story, cause it was so crappy.

Re: Invoking Ignatz: Brick Attack Remortared

I just wanted to bring Krazy & Ignatz to everyone's attention with a little tribute, that was my main point of this topic. You cartoonists have got to read it. That the cartoon deals heavily with brick throwing is just a grand coincedence so my new (crude) Brick Attack drawing is a tribute is all.

The option to do another Brick Attack, I think, would honestly be repetitive and/or boring if we choose to continue one set story but I'm certainly not gonna discourage anybody from throwing bricks of their own of course.

Free will and all that. I'd just hate for it to become an Internet-wide meme with *********** (The Site That Shall Not Be Named) and YTMND stealing my thunder.
