    City Life

I'm interested to those of you who live or common downtown areas, what do you honestly think of your city? Denver's alright but the conservative zealots are everywhere, I call myself as a Liberal Republican, and take a good laugh.

There's a flourishing music and art scene too; comedic, paintings, comedic-paintings, constant concert flow, and early marijuana legalization laws. Along with, the Electronica genre taking a very friendly stand again.

I've been moving quick to get a chance to take a glimpse of the intense changes within the culture. More friendly faces approaching you within even the inner city. The character of the people, it feels like an anime. Not so much in the suburbs, but Denver itself. A looming Quest building that glows a Luminescent blue in the night and light rail that darts through out every quadrant.

The people here are instead quitting the standard education system and diving in to the art and music culture to pursue it themselves. Nearly none of them worried about their well being or what becomes of them, it's paying off.----

I'll be around to add more, sorry I'm cutting off right now.

On to you all, what do you necessarily think about your city?

New York smells like pee but it's the best city in the world.

      St. Louis?

It's a wasteland. Really. On youtube, people have filmed very convincing zombie movies here with no budget, because the scenary is perfect for it. Very dangerous at night, you absolutely need a car here. If you're stupid or have mighty big balls, you can meet some 'interesting' characters here at night, but you could also get hurt very badly.

Have a look at what St. Louis looks like:

Perfect for low-budget films set in a post-nuclear world.

St. Louis obviously isn't the place I remembered it to be, then.

My city is barely big enough to achieve that title. Being placed on the highway between Atlanta and Florida, much of the commerce derives from truckers and travellers, but thanks to an Air Force base and a state college, it's become a suburbia overall. Most of the nightly activity is derived from the college/military community, which means lots and lots of clubs and drinking. We have a small homeless/beggar population that I've run into more than once. Traffic is high during the day. Most residents are middle class blue collar folk. I dunno what the majority political stance is around here either, but I'm guessing conservative given the high amounts of Protestant churches. Highlights include a nearby privately owned theme park which holds concerts nearly every week (though you'll be lucky to find one that isn't some country singer), a small shopping mall that recently expanded (at least it has DDR), and a friendly contrast of rich white retirement homes and 60-75% black community (sarcasm).

My family currently lives in Wichita, KS, of which the most I can say is that it's flat, Catholic, and spread out. I haven't had the chance to stay there more than a week at a time.

My nearest city, Mannheim, is a clean and pretty calm place.
The city stores and buildings are split in squares and have a letter & number, like Block B4, A2, etc

            http://www.mannheim.de/io2/browse/We...om/N61_de.xdoc

So it's pretty easy to navigate and there are street cars everywhere, making traveling simple and quick.
Did I mention gum-drop smilies and chocolate rivers?

You probably haven't been north of the downtown area. *cackle*

The city closest to me is NYC, but my heart belongs in Boston. No one is over 30 there.

I live in the (2nd or 3rd) biggest city in Illinois, called Aurora (yes...it's where Wayne's World was supposed to take place). I think we have over 150,000 residents now. Most of the west side is middle class/upper middle class, while most of the east side is a ghetto. The far east side is extremely rich. Downtown is okay. Mostly Mexican stores and Mexican restaurants, but we do have a riverboat casino downtown, and a community college (where I'm currently typing this from). I live about 10 minutes from downtown, so I can walk there whenever I want. Every summer, they have Downtown Alive every weekend. It's like a mini-festival with live music and street vendors. I've been there once. Not a bad place to live...but I would live elsewhere if I made more money and owned a car (we have an extensive public transportation system).
