    Better Late Than Rushed

"The ambitious nature of the open-world design proved to be fairly challenging, with regard to hitting the launch window for the film," Gibeau told investors. "And we wanted to look at a long-term opportunity here with Superman, so as a result we moved the product release to the fall to coincide with the DVD at holiday. Actually, from a publishing standpoint, the DVD release at holiday is a nice combination. There are more vehicles for us to market and promote the game, and we're going to get a better game this fall than we would have with the movie release."

I hope this game ends up being really good. Yeah, I know, fat chance being that it's a Superman game. But if it is successful maybe it'll show game studios that when they make a movie licensed game they're better off not rushing it out to meet the movie's release. Releasing alongside the DVD makes a lot of sense anyway. A lot of DVDs have included game demos but those always came months after the game and movie so most everyone who was interested already had the game. There's all kinds of opportunity for cross promotion that the theatrical release doesn't sync up with as well as the DVD. So I hope Superman Returns: The Videogame is a hit so it can be a wake up call to the movie based game makers.

Superman games have always sucked. Other super heroes like Batman, X-men, Spiderman, The Punisher, and The Incredible Hulk have had a handful of good games but every Superman game has been notoriously bad. I don't know if it's trying to capture Supe's invincibility within our limited technology or if the developer's working on the Supe games suck, but I could never really get over that fact.

I really do hope this game is good. The movie was pretty average but that latest Incredible Hulk game was pretty good and it would be sweet if Superman redeemd himself from SUPERMAN 64 and gave us some REAL open-world exploration and monster destruction... minus the evil Lex Luthor floating rings of death and 4 second "save the old woman from being hit by a car or face immediate gameover" puzzles.

Riddick managed to release the same time as the movie and still be an awesome game.

One of the very few exceptions to the rule, if not the only one. But my point is just that for the games that they know aren't good when it's time for the movie, they should delay them like Superman rather than put them out anyway like X-Men.

The game looks like ass anyway. It always gets made fun of when screens are posted on the net.

              That's 'cause it's Superman.

I spent a good number of hours playing Superman for the Atari 2600. I know this game is generally put into the same category as the E.T. game for the 2600 (i.e-horrible), but I owned and enjoyed both anyway.

The Third Age is actually not a bad game. If you like RPGs.

Is this supposed to be the Superman game where they finally get rid of Superman's health bar and give the citizens a health bar instead?
