All joking aside I hope there will come a day when people talk about weed and say "I can't believe this was illegal." I find most people who are against smoking weed change their opinions as soon as they try it.

more research has to be done on long term effects, and the entire social view of marijuana in the US has to be redefined before it could go legal.

By that accord, the same could be said for alcohol, tobacco, or even fast food. Or the vast majority of legal prescription medications, for that matter, which see little to no research on long-term effects but are almost unquestionably approved by the FDA...

The social view is the result of a misinformation campaign. Would the facts be what governs the laws around its use, it would have never been outlawed in the first place.

There are certain financial interests that need to be removed from consideration when legislation for marijuana use is considered. Especially the interests of the pharmaceutical, oil, petrochemical, defense, security, prison, drug-testing, paper, and textile industries. The war on drugs and incarcerating millions of marijuana users, while keeping viable methods of manufacturing plastics and biofuels from the public, while scaring employers into supporting a $2 billion/year drug tersting industry at the expense of our civil liberties, and while keeping a cheaper/more effective alternative to certain prescription medications away from the public, is making a lot of companies richer than they would otherwise be.

Y'know... I know that ADD is a real disease, but I HIGHLY doubt it is spreading like wildfire. If Doctors could say "Everyone has cancer" they would. That's how they get their money.

Aspergers appears to be the new ADD of the 2000's era though.
