PC or not PC, that is the question.

Hey everybody, I've got a question. I've been creating my game now for several months, and I consider myself to have a pretty good handle on RPG Maker 3, but I just came across something really strange. I have been creating my game with the intention of having Daniel be my PC. Today, I was just messing around with things, and I thought. Well, just for fun, I'm going to remove him from my party, make someone else the PC, and just place my previous PC, Daniel, in a dungeon.

So now, my story settings are:
    Start Position: Test Dungeon
    My party settings are:
    -Antique Dealer
    -none
    -none
    -none
    ACTIVE Antique Dealer

In layout mode, I placed Daniel (who was previously my PC, but isn't anymore) in the dungeon.
In the layout mode for the test dungeon, on the left hand side of the screen, it says
People -01/05 (the 1 being Daniel)
    Events -04/20
    Decorative Events - 02/10

You can clearly see Daniel on the screen.

Okay, so far so good. Right?

Then when I go to playtest mode, The antique dealer is my PC, I'm in the dungeon, but there is no Daniel anywhere. Then when I exit the playtest and look again in the layout mode, there is Daniel waiting for me in the dungeon. Does anyone know what's going on here?

I've tried this three times. I turned off the game too and restarted, and the same exact thing happens.

I'm going to take a random stab at this and suggest that maybe you have the antique dealer as the active character? Just a guess

Yes, that's right, as expected. The antique dealer is the active character (as I mentioned in my first post), and I want him to be the one I'm controlling with my joystick as I move around. And in the dungeon, even though Daniel has been placed there in Layout mode, there is no Daniel visible on the screen. That part of the dungeon is just empty walking space.

Did you check that Daniel is set to be visible during whatever time of day it is.

Was it "playtest" or "preview dungeon"? There's a difference.

Dyre! That was exactly the problem. In January, at some point, I had messed around with trying to make the main PC invisible during game play by turning the display off in both the day and the night modes. Since nothing happened during gameplay, I never went back and turned the display back on, and i had totally forgotten about that. I never mess around with any of the display modes for my NPCs. They're always on. Thanks. Great!
Thank you too H2S04 and Hitogoroshi for your input! Cool!!

Cool! You got it working! You really have to make sure that you check everything, if something isn't working.
