You'll either get used to typing text with a controller or you'll hate RPGM1 for it. I don't mind the lack of keyboard support, but others have quit using it because of such.
I don't even have a keyboard, aside from what's plugged in to my PC right now, so it doesn't affect me at all.

i've never used a keyboard for any RPG Maker (save the PC versions)...after a while you actually get pretty fast with a controller.

...and one heck of a case of Nintendo-nitis
I have no idea what that was, but it seemed to be the worst pun I've ever seen. :)

Nintendo-nitis (n): the condition of or resulting from playing Nintendo for several hours and getting a wicked cramp in your hand from holding the square controller and mashing your thumb to attempt to "get a little farther"
...and since Playstation 2-itis sounds silly I went for the old classic. ;)

Try several days.

My hand never got tired from typing. And I created some lengthy cutscenes. Really, creating a game and controller-typing on RPGM1 become second nature.

...I think I have permanent indentions in my thumbs. Me and the guys working on our RM1 game are on our 8th scenario...
*pets thumbs lovingly*
But yeah, if someone EVER developed a keyboard that fed into a PS1 controller port... I'd pay LOTS of money for it. Seriously.
Yea I didnt use the keyboard once last week while playing RM3 and I dont know how I ever managed without one
Though I have had these strange cravings to pull RM1 off the shelf and start playing it

for rpgmaker one, i strongly sujest upding the speed at which your curser moves. nothing is more anoying then typing text in that game, especialy when you have tons of text like most of rones games.

Heh, already done...
But even if the cursor is at max speed, your letters per minute is still INCREDIBLY low.
Yeah I know what you mean, a generic "Go save the princess" takes about 2 1/2 hours to type out:|
I pulled it off the shelf and played it a few minutes and quickly put it back on the shelf, creating a town with 1 takes about 10 times as long as 3 and doesn't look even half as good....plus theres no pre-made layouts:\

But you can't deny the incredible Dragon Warrior-esque graphics, plus the ability to create and use all of your own ...everything!
And I tried playing RM1 on my PS2 and the keyboard still doesn't work. I just don't think that the game is compatible with technology that was made after the game itself was manufactured...

Outside of it having a first-person view for the battle system (and even then the battles play out differently), RPGM1 doesn't look a thing like Dragon Warrior. If anything RPGM2 resembles DW more than the others.

That's arguable...
DQ8 was extremely close in battle system to RM1. The only REAL diffrence is that DQ8 is in 3D.

That doesn't change what I said.

What?! Okay, so in Dragon Warrior (Quest) You walk around the map, only seeing text as far as "you found XYZ item" and when you enter a battle, the music changes and the monsters appear lined up (not moving) and then in turn-baesed fashion you/they attack. How is Dragon Warrior/Quest not at all like RM1?
The menu. That and the inventories. RM2 has those things exactly as Dragon Warrior does. Therefore, RM2 is more like DW than RM1.

A valid point, but I still feel that graphically RM1 still looks back to the DW/Q more than the "Bomberman" style of RM2.
