    Re: Worth it?

You need the internet to download it and upload/download games and utilities, but the US version does not require internet connection in order for it to work.

I think it's easy. It lacks a few options (no default world map, no default vehicle system), but it's pretty decent. Even better if you're able to create custom stuff for it, and better still if you learn the Ruby programming code (most of the programming code comes with explanations of what it's doing, you can learn stuff by fiddling around with commands, and it includes an entire help feature dedicated to the coding). You don't need to know Ruby to use RMXP, but you need to use it at least a little to take full advantage of RMXP's potential.

You can buy it here. You can download it now for a 30-day free trial, see if you like it or not (note: it counts even days you don't use it when you download it, and you only get one chance at the trial). Afterwhich, it'll cost you a whopping $60 if you decide you like it enough.

You can also download a sample game here at the official website. You don't need RMXP to play it, though you need to download the RTP (same page as the sample game). RMXP itself doesn't come with futuristic graphics or some of the songs the game has, so this shows what you can do if you have a few extra resources on hand.

I'm downloading that sample game as I type this.

Only suggestion I can think of is the RTP has to be in the same area as the sample game. Can't really test any theories myself since I already own the game and everything included.

                    Re: Worth it?

You create maps in "layers". There are three graphic layers and one event layer. Stuff like the ground goes on the first layer, things sitting on the ground go on the second, and things such as windows and tree canopies go on the third layer. You can switch between layers next to the Undo button at the top.

you can make another map by simply right-clicking the directory above your maps (below the tileset) and click 'New Map'. linking maps is as easy as making an event with the single line of 'transfer player' and inserting the coordinates of where you want to move the player to.

RPGM3 and RPGMXP are nothing alike. One is 2D one is 3D. One has programming the other does not. One is way more customizable and one is very limiting. The differences are everywhere.

RPG Maker XP is great! Many options, and great support with Ruby. But, it's like a flexible more difficult version of Game Maker. If you're looking to make a great game with ease(even an RPG), then GM is what I recommend.
