    Do you use Cut scenes?

The ones with a general background picture and can display up to 3 people at one time? Personally I don't think their very practical since you can easily make the characters speak normally (without using a cutscene) and that way you can make the camera move around and it's all in 3D. Just my personel preference but I think it's a lot better then cutscenes.

You can't make the camera move around. Only the player can. And most aren't willing to hold the camera stick to the side during a conversation.

Yes, you can. Just use the mode editor instead of event codes, then the camera moves around. It makes it look a bit cooler than just using Still cut scenes. You can even make the NPC move around while talking.

Maybe it's just me, but...echhh. I had to resort to using the method you describe when I was running out of memory (Series 1 used 99.9% of memory), but I do not like how it looks. I had the characters' 2D images come up during most conversations. In that way, I could have a "conversation" by having an NPC's image come up and say something, followed by a PC's image, etc, instead of the NPC just saying one thing and that's it.

But the mode editor alone can't make much of a cutscene.

They are not cut-scenes per se; each character's graphic comes on the screen when they talk, and then disappears when the next person talks. I'm just saying instead of using a storyteller to have more than one character talk during an encounter with a NPC, I just put a new message with a different 2D graphic so more than one person can say something.

              storyteller is fine.
it simplifies the tons of code you'd have to do for some of the more complex storytellers, and has some other options unavailabe in the regular event code list. like for example you may have a character saying "you must find the sword", or "you must defeat the ogre" and you can display the sword or the ogre in the background as he says it. also you have pictures in the background, instead of the actual scene that your standing in, plus you can change the picture at will, so you can use that too, such as if you're character is explaining, "you must travel first to the deset (show desert), then to the castle (show castle)

Yeah, Although it`s easier to use the mode editor, I like using the Storyteller. As theonejanitor said, you can change the background (to make your characters warp to another place), make lots of characters talk in an easy way, and change the music, something that can change the quiet and peaceful scene into a scene full of danger and action.
That`s why I like using the Storyteller.

I kinda wish RPGM3 came with some premade maps to match the storyteller backgrounds. Then you wouldn't be seeing a building in the cutscene that isn't really there during exploration. It's no problem for dungeons and towns since you just have to see where the building/ground is in the background and place it in the town map accordingly, but it would be quite difficult to duplicate the look of a field, if not impossible.
