A couple questions about The Movies

I'm salivating at the thought of making my own movies, but I'm curious about a couple things.

Are there any medieval sets, props, costumes, and such, and are there non-human costumes or ways to make aliens/fantasy races?

It's not a deal-breaker, but a matter of curiosity since I can't seem to find that specific information on the web site. Right now I've got a full plate with some RPGM3 projects, but as soon as they're out of the way I'll get this.

There are several monster and alien costumes as well as being able to set body paint on the actors that make them look like they're covered in green scales or their skin is an unusual color but still put them in regular clothes. There aren't any medieval sets. The set categories are Wild West, Urban, Suburban, Rural, War, and SciFi. I'm not sure what sets are in the expansion but I haven't heard anything about medieval ones. I haven't really looked into the mod community much but there are some custom made sets and costumes out there.

I really like The Movies. I already made my first movie which I posted in my game forum http://www.pavilionboards.com/forum/...070#post135070

EDIT: I found a listing of everything in the Stunts & Effects expansion. All the sets are in the same categories, still no medieval.

Awesome! I love the alien graphics in the expansion (both the horor-movie-type and the "Grays"). Definitely worth stepping up my RPGM3 work for!

How much would the original and the expansion cost together? Do you need the original to play expansion?

Also what are the requirements to play the game? I would like to play on my laptop, but I'm not sure if I can.

My laptop has Windows XP and thatis about all I know.

Re: A couple questions about The Movies

If you're running XP then your CPU and everything is probably good enough. The requirements say you need a 32 MB video card but I acutally have a 16 MB one and it runs. It's wonky on medium graphics but on low it runs smoothly.

As far as the cost. Yes you need the full game, the expansion pack just adds stuff to it. The full game I think is still $40 or so in stores but I got mine from Amazon.com for $25 including shipping. The expansion is $30. So if you can get a good price the two together are about the price of a new console game.
EDIT: BestBuy has them for $25 each.

Re: A couple questions about The Movies

Hey, does anyone know how i keep certain sets from being used?

the wild west bank set was used in about 3/4 of my movies, and it messes up my ratings lately, how do i mothball that set temporarily?

I don't know of a way to put it aside temporarily. I just tear it down.

Re: A couple questions about The Movies

Jeroak, my best advice is to just make a script real quick w/ the best novelty values...6 different scenes, 6 different sets. AFter 6, the number of scenes and sets has no more bearing on the rating of the movie

Re: A couple questions about The Movies

cool, thanks Kire, i'll check that out, i just push out the movies my scriptwriters make, but sometimes they make these movies that always use the same sets, and its getting old.

If i do want to tear down a set, how do i do that...i cant seem to figure out how to tear down a set.

Pull one of your mechanic guys out of the side bar, drag it over to the set in question, and an icon should pop up. One of 'em is for blowing it up. Do that, and KABOOM!!!
