The Wall

I've been a huge Pink Floyd fan my whole life, grew up listening to Dark Side almost non-stop. But for some odd reason I had never ever bought or listened to The Wall. I knew all the singles that got radio-time, but I had never really gotten the full experience of the whole album.

I have seen the movie, though, but that doesn't count for me. Got the thing today, finally, and I must say it amazes me. I'm still trying to decide whether or not I prefer Dark Side to this, but I don't know it's so close to call.

Anyway, any Pink Floyd fans out there? Anyone get me?

I like their music, but I wouldn't call myself a "huge" fan.

I had a friend who loved them a LOT, but only when Syd Barret was with them.

They are my favorite band...that wall is great...you can really feel the coldness and isolation to emotion throughout the whole album...I love Hey you, one of my turns and young lust.

I like some of their older stuff, anything from the late 60's (piper at the gates of dawn, ummagumma) and early 70's (obscured by clouds, atom heart mother, animals).

Some of the modern PF music is alright, but it doesn't have the same effect for me. Pulse is cool just because it has the most kick-ass version of "astronomy domine" ever.

Yeah, Pink Floyd is my favorite band!

The Wall is okay. I'm not really a big fan of it. Animals is far superior, and my favorite album ever.

I'm also a Pink Floyd fan. I generally favor the newer PF albums, like Momentary Lapse of Reason and Dark Side. I'd have to say my favorite album is The Wall, with Dark Side as the second, and my favorite songs not included on those albums are "High Hopes" and "Sorrow".

Yeah, I feel the same way. The new stuff seems to sound the same (dull) and has little to offer in the way of innovation/variation. I like a few new tunes (Learning to Fly is one), but the rest I'm fairly indifferent to.

I really respect the artistic side of The Wall movie but I think it completely sucks.

To me its mostly an excuse for retards to eat mushrooms and be like OMG THE WALL AND I'M TRIPPING LOLZ.

I like most of the tunes (bring the boys back home and vera are the exceptions), but I don't care for the film (save for the awesome animated parts). After I watched it once I felt like I never had to watch it again.
