    summer reading

I've set a goal for myself to read a different book every week until the first day of autumn. I've got some already on my list but recommendations would be greatly appreciated. keeping in mind that I don't like science fiction or fantasy, what would you recommend?

    currently reading:

How We Are Hungry by Dave Eggers

coming up (in the order I will read them):
Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs by Chuck Klosterman
Killing Yourself To Live by Chuck Klosterman
    Choke by Chuck Palahniuk
    The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri
Everything Is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer
A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer
Why White Kids Love Hip Hop by Bakari Kitwana
Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
    Barrell Fever by David Sedaris
A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole
Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris
Kafka On the Shore by Haruki Murakami

I plan on fully taking advantage of the graphic novel section of my public library system.

    Because I'm ignorant.

I hadn't even considered those. I need to get caught up... I've missed a lot. I need to read the Other storyline, I need to get all the stuff for House of M, I need to read all the stuff leading up to Civil War AND Civil War... yeah. I missed a lot.

lol, I've read those two books and Silent Bob Speaks so many times, I could probably quote select sections at the drop of a hat.

Highwind, that Confederacy of Dunces book sounds like something I would really enjoy. thanks for the tip.

yeah. I thought it was like an alternate universe, like an Elseworld story?

This summer I'm finally going to fully read through A Clockwork Orange and The Great Gatsby.

And probably the Bruce Campbell books, too.

David Sedaris writes some pretty funny books(I still like his sister better).

Perhaps also some Kurt Vonnegut... and definitely read some of George Carlin's stuff.

I started Slaughterhouse-Five then I will continue on to Cat's Cradle. I also hope to read Gatsby, In Cold Blood and whatever else floats my way including the rest of the damn Harry Potter series.

My House of M advice: just read the first one that sets it off by Brian Michael Bendis. Then read his Daredevil work. Good stuff.

House of M is when the Scarlet Witch alters reality, so yeah, it's essentially an alternate universe. Except it's taking place within normal Marvel continuity and isn't "imaginary" like an Elseworlds title from DC would be.

Turns out the graphic novels are in the young adult section and I can't go in there without seeming creepy and weird.

you may feel better about it if you wear a large hat and a trenchcoat thats always inexplicably wet.
